About The Position

The Senior Electrical Engineer functions as the overall technical lead for the Fed-Florida Business Unit projects. This role requires adaptability and versatility in performing various electrical engineering tasks. The position is responsible for the overall technical quality of assigned projects, ensuring design compliance with SOW requirements, codes, and standards. The Senior Electrical Engineer will oversee discipline-specific personnel and technical execution of design, and may be assigned as Engineer of Record (EOR) or Design Lead. Additionally, the role involves participating in business development activities, including proposal reviews, strategic growth support, and coordination with other design disciplines. Operational responsibilities include mentoring, process improvement input, and assisting in training program development.

Requirements

  • BS Electrical Engineering degree required from an ABET-accredited program
  • 8+ years of professional Electrical Engineering experience
  • PE Certification
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 applications
  • Must have working knowledge of the NEC, NFPA, ANSI, and UFC codes
  • Must be a US Citizen for Security Clearance requirements.
  • Active/Interim or ability to obtain Secret Security Clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • knowledge of the FBC, ASME, and AFMAN/SSMAN requirements.
  • Experience with CAD, Revit, Bluebeam Revu, or other electrical system modeling/drafting software is highly preferred.
  • Valid/Unrestricted FL driver license

Responsibilities

  • Perform project direct billable functions and responsibilities to maintain a personal utilization rate of 85%-90%.
  • Responsible for the overall technical quality of assigned projects to ensure design compliance to meet SOW requirements and all applicable codes and standards.
  • Oversees discipline-specific personnel and technical execution of design.
  • Responsible for performing engineering tasks such as site design, permitting, assessments, and construction management.
  • Adheres to Project Management Plans (PMP) and Quality Control (QC) programs as assigned but does not change them without approval.
  • May be assigned as Engineer of Record (EOR) and/or Design Lead.
  • Participates in Fed-Florida Quality Control Program providing final approval of all Electrical work products, performing Chief Engineer responsibilities, and/or performing Design Manager responsibilities when assigned.
  • Ensure adherence to Fed-Florida’s quality control standards, including pass-through services/consulting.
  • Tactical business development - Review RFP/RFQ/SOW as well as prebid drawings and specifications to determine resource requirements and risk/benefit potential for each assigned proposal opportunity.
  • Strategic business development – Support the Director in cultivating and maintaining Fed-Florida’s strategic growth targets and growth areas as requested.
  • Oversee design-build coordination for Electrical scope of work on assigned proposals. Coordinate subcontractor services that will be necessary or could impact the Electrical scope of work. Ensure the GC Prime has sufficient technical input to competitively price their means-methods to construct the project.
  • Coordinate with other design disciplines to ensure related scopes have adequate level of effort with minimal redundancies on assigned proposals.
  • Participate in go/no-go decisions, oral presentations, capture management, technical approach narratives, qualification packages, elevator pitches, industry days, and conferences as requested.
  • As requested, identify/suggest opportunity-specific teammates, subcontractors, hardware, software, training, badging, certifications, licenses, safety and travel needs that are likely to be required to perform the Electrical scope of work. Clarify scope of services to clearly explain Fed-Florida’s understanding of the Electrical scope of work through clarifications, assumptions, and exclusions.
  • Assists the Director of Electrical Engineer in specialized projects to advance the growth of Fed-Florida. These tasks may include but are not limited to mentoring interns/new hires, providing input for process improvements, assisting in the development of our continuously growing training program.
