About The Position

Salas O’Brien is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to develop and lead power distribution, emergency power, and resiliency design for complex, secure, high-hazard federal facility programs. This role involves supporting the modernization of Department of Energy and National Nuclear Security Administration facilities. The Senior Electrical Engineer will work in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team environment, leading design for new facilities, additions, and renovation projects, with a focus on secure and hazardous occupancy environments where electrical system reliability is critical. Responsibilities include providing technical leadership for construction drawings and specifications, existing system studies, and facility master planning, covering base building power distribution, emergency/standby power, UPS, and security-related electrical infrastructure. The role requires client interaction, coordination with code officials and contractors, and engagement across the full design lifecycle. The clientele includes Federal Government (DOE/NNSA), Department of Defense, national laboratories, Higher Education, Commercial, Health Care, Science and Technology, and municipal/institutional facilities.

  • A Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • A minimum of 10 years of design experience.
  • Knowledge in the design of power distribution, emergency power, and electrical resiliency systems.
  • Knowledge and understanding of applicable codes, standards, and design guidelines (NEC, NFPA 70/110), including hazardous occupancy classifications (e.g., IBC H-2) and security-related electrical compartmentalization requirements (e.g., ICD 705), or a demonstrated ability to rapidly develop this expertise.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and MS Office.
