About The Position

Miller-Remick is a full-service MEP engineering firm looking for energetic, self-motivated, and innovative individuals to join our team. This role can be filled anywhere within the US. We are looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to act as lead on multiple concurrent capital projects ranging from $5M - $100M across a variety of markets, with a strong focus on healthcare. This person should have a proven history of performing complex work with efficiency and little oversight, and have the aptitude to mentor and provide guidance to more junior staff. Our clients include federal agencies (Dept. of Veteran Affairs, Dept. of Defense, GSA, Federal Bureau of Prisons, state, and local governments). Projects have varied degrees of complexity and a wide range of estimated construction costs and include hospitals and healthcare, military bases, federal buildings and courthouses, state and local government buildings, research laboratories, central steam and chilled water plants, corrections facilities and site utility infrastructure projects.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
10+ years of experience in electrical engineering design for MEP/building systems projects.
Strong knowledge of NEC, NFPA, IBC, IECC, IEEE standards, and applicable local codes.
Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Understanding of construction documents and engineering design processes.
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Candidates are required to successfully complete a federal background check for security clearance.

Nice To Haves

Familiarity with electrical analysis and lighting software such as SKM and Visual Lighting preferred.
Experience mentoring junior engineering staff and leading project teams preferred.
Experience in hospitals and healthcare, military bases, government buildings and courthouses, research laboratories, central steam and chilled water plants, corrections facilities, and/or site utility infrastructure highly valued.

Responsibilities

Lead the electrical design and coordination of commercial, healthcare, and industrial MEP projects from concept through construction administration.
Develop complete electrical construction documents including medium- and low-voltage power distribution, lighting, grounding, low-voltage, and emergency power systems.
Develop single-line diagrams, riser diagrams, and electrical room layouts.
Perform electrical load calculations, short-circuit analysis, voltage drop calculations, arc flash studies, and equipment sizing.
Design branch power, lighting, emergency power, and lighting control systems in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
Coordinate electrical systems with mechanical, plumbing, structural, architectural, and civil disciplines for coordinated project delivery.
Conduct site surveys, field investigations, and existing conditions assessments.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and drafting/design staff.
Attend client meetings, design coordination meetings, and construction progress meetings.
Evaluate contractor submittmits, RFIs, change orders, and shop drawings for technical compliance.
Provide construction administration support including site observations, punch lists, and issue resolution.
Develop project specifications, basis of design narratives, and technical reports.
Utilize Revit, AutoCAD, SKM, ETAP, AGi32, and other engineering software for design and analysis.
Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining quality, schedule, and budget objectives.
Collaborate with multi-discipline project team of internal and external architects and engineers to ensure successful project execution and client satisfaction.
