About The Position

Nova Space Solutions, LLC (NSS) is a joint venture between Wolf Creek Federal Services, Inc. and Amentum Technology, Inc. The Senior Electrical Engineer performs engineering assignments for the Engineering Services Department (ESD) for the respective site as part of the Combined Operations, Services, Maintenance, and Infrastructure Contract (COSMIC). The candidate will perform complex electrical engineering tasks and provide technical support in compliance with current industry, code, and site standards. Specific engineering tasks include project planning and development, preliminary concepts and trade studies, design development, construction monitoring, analysis and modeling, and cost estimating for facilities, technical systems, and Special Test Equipment (STE). The Senior Electrical Engineer also assists other discipline engineers in the preparation of plans, designs, computation methods, and reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or similar discipline from an ABET accredited university.
  • Minimum of 8 years of related experience with electrical design principles and practices; master’s in science degree may substitute and count towards years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of and application of current industry standards and codes (NFPA, NEC, IBC, ICC, IECC, LEED).
  • Software experience in one or more of the following: PTC (Windchill, Mathcad, Creo), Autodesk (Proest, Civil3D, AutoCad, Revit), Power Distribution (SKM, EasyPower, Etap), lighting & lightning protection software.
  • Active professional engineer (PE) licensure registered in the state of MS or LA, or ability and desire to obtain within 1 year of hire.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen in order to obtain required NASA badge.
  • Must be able to provide a certified Birth Certificate (with state seal), Passport, or INS Citizenship documents on date of hire (candidate will be sent home if this paperwork is not provided upon arrival on date of hire).
  • Must have the ability to communicate the English language, both verbally and written, in an effective manner.
  • Must have, and maintain, a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to pass a Pre-Employment background check and drug screen test.

  • Will insure quality and completeness of work in a safe and timely manner as well as insuring areas worked are clean, neat, and ready for customers’ needs when complete.

Responsibilities

  • Development of electrical designs for construction of new or modification to existing facilities and site utilities relating to 115Kv, 13.8Kv, and 480v electrical power distribution, grounding and lightning protection, hazardous rated environments, lighting, and controls.
  • Perform design and integration of PLC control and instrumentation systems for mission critical applications.
  • Prepare plans and specifications in conjunction with other project team members for construction packages.
  • Perform engineering analyses and develop design calculations using engineering software and methods.
  • Independently performs project assignments that involve complex features in accordance with codes, standards, and other precedents of the discipline.
  • Analyses and/or evaluates results of analysis using engineering techniques.
  • Develops design proposals and estimated cost of construction for completed designs.
  • Assists in the review of vendor/contractor submittals, Requests for Information (RFIs), and change orders to bring product design from engineering phase to completed construction.
  • Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other organizations and engineering disciplines.
  • Responsible for reviewing/checking the designs, specifications, and costs estimates of electrical engineers that are part of discipline team.
  • Must comply with all applicable safety and health related policies and procedures.
  • Conduct site visits with designers/drafters and other engineers to field verify as-builts, research site conditions, and develop project design strategies.
  • Provide technical oversight, mentorship, and peer review for discipline engineers.
  • Monitor and report weekly on the status of all current design projects, including design schedule and actual cost.
  • Assign tasks and monitor workload for discipline engineers.
  • Technical recommendations and decision making for all on-site facilities electrical design and construction efforts.
  • Assist in electrical discipline staffing decisions and hiring process.
  • Develop design and construction cost and schedule estimates for proposals.
  • Assist other departments as needed with engineering support.
