About The Position

TYLin is seeking an experienced, design-oriented Senior Electrical Engineer to contribute to a diverse portfolio of facilities and infrastructure projects. The position focuses on developing practical, technically sound low- and medium-voltage electrical solutions from concept through detailed design and construction. The engineer will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, own key design deliverables, and contribute to projects across commercial, institutional, transportation, industrial, and public-sector environments. The work includes designing reliable, code-compliant electrical systems for new facilities, renovations, expansions, and infrastructure upgrades. Systems may include power distribution, service entrances, switchgear, transformers, lighting, emergency power, standby generation, UPS, and other critical power systems. The engineer will prepare technical documentation and analyses, coordinate designs across disciplines, participate in site assessments and construction-phase activities, and provide guidance to junior engineers and designers. The role offers opportunities to broaden technical expertise and progress toward technical or project leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent recognized qualification.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • Strong, relevant electrical engineering design experience.
  • Experience designing low- and medium-voltage electrical systems for buildings, facilities, infrastructure, or other complex built environments.
  • Strong understanding of electrical power distribution, single-line diagrams, load calculations, equipment selection, and electrical design documentation.
  • Experience developing construction-ready drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical deliverables.
  • Familiarity with emergency power systems, electrical service upgrades, lighting systems, and facility modernization projects.
  • Strong working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and other applicable electrical codes and industry standards.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Ability to interpret existing-condition documentation, assess site constraints, and develop practical engineering solutions.
  • Strong technical communication, problem-solving, and multidisciplinary coordination skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and take accountability for the quality and completeness of design deliverables.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AGi32 or comparable lighting design and photometric analysis software.
  • Experience in transportation, institutional, commercial, industrial, or other complex facilities.
  • Direct rail and transit experience is not essential; strong electrical design fundamentals applicable across facility types are of interest.
  • Interest in expanding technical expertise and progressing toward a senior engineering, technical leadership, or project leadership role.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support electrical systems design for new facilities, renovations, expansions, and infrastructure improvement projects.
  • Develop detailed low- and medium-voltage designs, including power distribution, service entrance systems, switchgear, transformers, and equipment connections.
  • Prepare and review electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, specifications, calculations, equipment schedules, and other technical documentation.
  • Perform electrical load calculations, equipment sizing, voltage-drop calculations, and other design analyses.
  • Design lighting and emergency lighting systems, including photometric analysis and code compliance.
  • Support design of emergency power, standby generation, UPS, and other critical power systems as project needs require.
  • Coordinate electrical designs with architectural, mechanical, structural, civil, and other engineering disciplines.
  • Participate in site assessments, existing-condition investigations, design reviews, and construction-phase activities.
  • Support technical discussions with clients, contractors, equipment suppliers, and other project stakeholders.
  • Apply relevant electrical codes, standards, and best practices throughout the design process.
  • Own assigned technical deliverables, resolve design challenges, and help maintain quality, schedule, and project objectives.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers.
