About The Position

The Senior Electrical Engineer will collaborate with key stakeholders to develop engineering drawings that meet client and regulatory requirements. This role requires effective multitasking, strong organizational skills for process documentation, and the ability to mentor junior engineers while fostering a collaborative departmental culture. The engineer will be responsible for creating designs for low voltage electrical switchgear assemblies/systems, replacement breakers, and related equipment, often from scratch. They will work with various teams including mechanical engineers, production, purchasing, and vendors to create complete drawings, submittals, and BOM packages. The role also involves developing and reviewing testing plans with the QA and Testing group, following and developing standard design processes, making design changes throughout the product lifecycle, and supporting other departments like project management, production, and sales. A hands-on approach to resolving production issues and mentoring junior engineers is expected.

Requirements

  • Proficient with AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Ability to work on the assignments with minimal guidance and navigate difficult situations and tasks by working with the key stakeholders and peers.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills and the ability to work with stakeholder teams of various levels of technical understanding.
  • 4-year bachelor’s degree (required)
  • 4-10 years of design experience in the relevant industry (switchgear, control circuit, electrical design, etc. preferred)
  • Experience with UL891
  • Satisfactory completion of additional background screening

Nice To Haves

  • EIT (Engineering in Training) certificate
  • Experience with REVIT and Inventor
  • Experience in generator and automation controls, specifically PLC/HMI knowledge of Rockwell/Siemens and Woodward
  • PE license in power systems and controls a strong plus or demonstrated ability to acquire one

Responsibilities

  • Create designs specific to low voltage electrical switchgear assemblies/systems, replacement breakers, and related equipment mostly from scratch.
  • Effectively collaborate with the key stakeholders (mechanical engineers, production, purchasing, vendors, etc.) to develop complete drawings, submittals, and BOM packages that meet customer, manufacturing, regulatory, and project requirements.
  • Work with QA and Testing group to develop and review testing plans.
  • Follow and develop standard design processes and documentations to improve quality and efficiency in engineering design.
  • Make changes and corrections in electrical design throughout the life of the product.
  • Effectively support other departments such as project management, production, and sales.
  • Detailed-oriented and organized in documentations.
  • Work closely and proactively with a hands-on approach with the production team to resolve identified issues quickly.
  • Mentor junior engineers and promote a culture of collaboration.
  • Complete projects and performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
