About The Position

The Leonardo DRS Land Electronics business provides C4I Network computing and integrated situational awareness, as well as state-of-the-art embedded diagnostics, vehicle power management and combat vehicle integration products and services. This role will lead and deliver electrical engineering design and development for Leonardo DRS Land Electronics programs in Huntsville, AL. The engineer will guide a small team through the full product lifecycle - design, analysis, documentation, integration, and test support, ensuring technical execution meets performance, cost, schedule, and producibility targets. They will translate customer requirements into robust subsystem and product designs, collaborate across engineering/manufacturing/suppliers, and contribute to proposals and program planning to deliver mission-ready solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related technical field with a minimum of 5 years of experience
  • Fluency in technologies and application domain
  • Familiar with development tools and proficient in their use

Nice To Haves

  • Cadence experience is highly desirable
  • DoD industry experience with MIL-STD 810, 461, 1275 a plus

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, analyze, document and support testing of products, systems, or subsystems
  • May use computer-aided engineering or other design / analysis software in the performance of assignments.
  • Review customer specifications and requirements, and under direction, develop designs to best support them, including cost as a key design variable
  • Provide budget, cost, and schedule input for design assignments
  • Specify and evaluate supplier components, subsystems, and services
  • Drive the program design to cost and design for manufacture requirements
  • Develop prototypes to retire key development risks
  • Communicate clearly (written and oral) with other company personnel and the customer as required
  • Participate in preparation of proposals
  • Provide technical knowledge and assistance to other engineers and support personnel
  • Lead and direct the work of others as assigned
