About The Position

Amentum is looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer to join their component engineering group supporting a key Government customer. This opportunity will support multiple programs across the Department of War (DoW) with system parts, planning, testing, and analysis. The Electrical Engineer will work alongside project leads to ensure program success, and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in engineering and 10 or more years of relevant experience.
  • Component or Systems Engineering experience with a focus on quality and reliability standards and methods of IEEE parts.
  • Knowledgeable of best design practices for IEEE parts
  • Experience with military standards (MIL-STD), and various other industry standards in regards to the characteristics, performance, and survivability of component parts.
  • Ability to analyze the differences between the military standards, and the part performance data.
  • Ability to communicate ideas to customers, program office, colleagues, and contractors
  • Ability to write technical reports.
  • Proven communications and analytical skills with a sense of urgency and in a timely manner through work experience.
  • Experience with electronic component testing and characterization.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
  • Must be a United States citizen.

Nice To Haves

  • Masters degree in engineering and 12 or more years of relevant experience.
  • Experience authoring or managing a Parts Management Plan.
  • Experience in creating or reviewing Non-Standard Part Approval Requests.
  • Ability to investigate, troubleshoot, and design solutions to problems in operational hardware and software.
  • Experience with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multi-meters, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and impedance analyzers.
  • Experience with scripts and scripting languages.
  • Active Secret security clearance

Responsibilities

  • Perform analysis of and response to Non-Standard Part Approval Requests for electrical components that do not meet the requirements of the Parts Management Plan.
  • Lead and participate in Program Parts, Materials, and Processes Control Board meetings to review, discuss, and determine the validity of non-standard parts survivability for intended use case.
  • Mentor junior engineers to accurately evaluate components based on their qualification and test data.
  • Collaborate with environmental and radiation test teams to complete component characterization and testing.
  • Review test data and reports prior to being provided to customers.
