About The Position

Kennedy Jenks is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join their growing team in any of their California office locations. This role focuses on shaping the design of water and wastewater infrastructure projects, including treatment facilities, pump stations, buildings, and related systems. The Senior Electrical Engineer will collaborate with multi-discipline teams to deliver innovative, sustainable solutions for clients in the water, wastewater, and industrial sectors. This position offers opportunities for technical leadership, mentoring junior engineers, and contributing to impactful projects nationwide.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience, in buildings and preferably in water, wastewater, or industrial waste treatment facilities.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the state of CA required and ability to obtain reciprocity in other states.
  • Experience designing and sealing medium to large electrical projects and familiarity with the full project lifecycle: planning, design (30%–100%), bidding, construction, commissioning, and testing.
  • Strong communication skills for collaboration across multidisciplinary teams and client meetings.
  • Advanced knowledge of stand-by generators and associated switchgear.
  • Technical expertise in MCCs, switchboards, panelboards, load calculations, diesel generators, medium- and low-voltage power systems, transformers, MV/LV switchgear, and SKM software.

Responsibilities

  • Lead electrical engineering design for water, wastewater, and industrial infrastructure projects.
  • Perform power system design and studies, including load flow, short circuit, protective relay coordination, and arc-flash hazard analysis.
  • Contribute to conceptual reports, construction plans, and CSI specifications.
  • Develop detailed design documentation using REVIT, CAD, and/or BIM.
  • Coordinate P&IDs and associated logic diagrams with electrical schematics for process equipment.
  • Perform calculations for voltage drop, electrical load studies, system power flow, generator sizing, fault studies, and protective device coordination.
  • Design lighting, fire alarm, and other electrical systems.
  • Review contractor submittments and provide engineered solutions to Requests for Information.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.
