Hardware Engineering’s capabilities encompass a broad range of technical disciplines which include engineering, technical services, materials, processes, analysis, test, and documentation. Within the Hardware Engineering Organization, the Undersea & Electronics Systems (UES) Department leads the mechanical design, development, and integration of a diverse set of products, including but not limited to undersea sensors and analysis, naval platforms, shipboard/ground-based processing and power equipment, and launchers. The UES department is looking for a full-time Senior Electrical Engineer to become a member of the ESSM® Missile Launcher team. This role will be on-site and located in Portsmouth, RI.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience
  • Experience reading and developing electrical interconnect drawings
  • Experience with electronics packaging and impacts of EMI and shock/vibe on electronics
  • Experience leading small development efforts and teams with cost and schedule responsibility
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in specification design, development, production and testing of electronics systems. Specific knowledge of packaging electronic equipment to meet physical and environmental constraints is preferred
  • Experience with technical execution and development of proposal cost and technical volumes.
  • Experience with or certifications to write engineering basis of estimates (BOEs)
  • Military and Commercial Specifications
  • Demonstrated ability to solve difficult problems while working as part of a cross functional team
  • Strong communication skillset with ability to articulate, in both oral and written form, to technical, non-technical and management audiences

Responsibilities

  • Work hands on with hardware to support prototyping, production support, and product sustainment
  • Collaborate across multiple disciplines/functions (i.e. mechanical and software engineering) to solve complex technical challenges in a fast-paced, team environment.
  • Support the factory and suppliers with product integration
  • Participate in design peer reviews, resolving action items, and conducting trade studies to make sound technical decisions.
  • Work with limited supervision and meet commitments for assigned schedule, financial, and technical goals.
  • Understand existing FPGA Code and system-level software to troubleshoot field issues
  • Support international travel (~10-20%) to customer sites or suppliers
