About The Position

Divergent is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead planning and execution of factory electrical infrastructure and workcenter buildouts. The role translates production requirements into operational manufacturing space and is responsible for owner-side electrical infrastructure planning, utility service and distribution upgrades, and technical execution of projects supporting factory development and manufacturing equipment deployment. The engineer makes day-to-day technical decisions to keep projects aligned with production goals, schedules, and budgets. The position leads electrical supply and capacity planning, factory distribution design coordination, equipment integration, and technical coordination from concept through construction, commissioning, and energization. It also oversees cross-functional planning for factory data and IT infrastructure, controls and automation infrastructure, factory and workcenter layouts, and equipment deployment strategies. The engineer coordinates with utilities, A&E firms, contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders; reviews technical deliverables and construction documentation; and supports capital project scope, budgets, procurement, schedules, and corrective actions. The role is based across office, manufacturing, and active construction environments, with frequent factory-floor work and regular movement through manufacturing facilities, electrical rooms, equipment installation zones, and construction areas. Appropriate PPE is required on factory floors and construction sites. Occasional early mornings, evenings, or weekends may be needed during critical installation, commissioning, or construction milestones.

  • Strong technical understanding of medium- and low-voltage electrical distribution systems, including transformers, switchgear, switchboards, panelboards, feeders, and industrial equipment power requirements.
  • Experience developing requirements for and reviewing electrical engineering deliverables, including single-line diagrams, load calculations, power distribution plans, equipment specifications, and electrical system studies.
  • Experience supporting electrical infrastructure planning, construction coordination, equipment installation, commissioning, or utility infrastructure upgrades.
  • Working knowledge of applicable electrical codes and safety requirements, including NEC, NFPA 70E, and relevant electrical engineering standards.
  • Ability to independently evaluate complex engineering problems, develop technical solutions, and drive implementation across projects and stakeholders.
  • Experience coordinating technical workstreams across engineering disciplines, A&E partners, contractors, utilities, and equipment vendors.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, including the ability to manage parallel engineering activities, technical decisions, and project priorities.
  • Ability to develop and maintain clear technical documentation, engineering requirements, configuration records, and project deliverables.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with utility service planning, capacity upgrades, line extensions, utility interconnections, and electric utility providers.
  • Experience leading electrical infrastructure planning and execution for large-scale manufacturing facilities, factory expansions, or industrial equipment deployments.
  • Experience performing or reviewing power system studies, including load flow, short-circuit, arc flash, voltage drop, and protective device coordination.
  • Experience evaluating onsite generation, backup power, UPS systems, or alternative electrical supply solutions.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, ETAP, SKM PowerTools, or similar electrical engineering software.
  • Experience with factory data and IT infrastructure, industrial controls, PLC architectures, BMS, SCADA, or IT/OT integration.
  • Experience leading capital project technical evaluations, infrastructure trade studies, contractor coordination, and construction execution planning.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or progress toward licensure.
  • Experience in fast-paced, high-growth manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead planning and execution of factory electrical supply strategies based on current and future power demand, utility capacity, and infrastructure needs.
  • Serve as the owner-side engineering interface with utilities for service upgrades, line extensions, infrastructure requirements, and energization schedules.
  • Coordinate with A&E firms to assess phased power delivery and alternative supply options based on cost, schedule, reliability, risk, and scalability.
  • Lead planning and technical execution of medium- and low-voltage factory electrical distribution infrastructure, including transformers, switchgear, switchboards, panelboards, feeders, and equipment connections.
  • Define electrical infrastructure requirements and review external engineering designs for factory needs, code compliance, constructability, reliability, and scalability.
  • Coordinate with A&E partners, electrical contractors, and equipment vendors to support equipment deployment and future factory expansion.
  • Lead owner-side electrical engineering coordination from concept development through construction and equipment commissioning.
  • Establish infrastructure requirements and review engineering deliverables such as load calculations, single-line diagrams, distribution plans, grounding requirements, equipment specifications, and system studies.
  • Evaluate equipment interfaces, facility hookups, and infrastructure constraints to support manufacturing readiness.
  • Plan and coordinate factory data and IT infrastructure with IT stakeholders, engineering teams, and equipment vendors.
  • Lead planning and technical coordination of facility controls and automation infrastructure, partnering with controls engineering, IT, facilities, and vendors.
  • Coordinate electrical construction and equipment installation, serving as the primary engineering point of contact for electrical scope and integration.
  • Review contractor submittals, vendor shop drawings, and technical RFIs; resolve technical issues and field constraints with project stakeholders.
  • Support construction sequencing and electrical testing, commissioning, and energization readiness.
  • Develop and execute factory and workcenter buildout strategies, optimize equipment integration and infrastructure requirements, review layouts, and assess manufacturing and facility constraints.
  • Coordinate engineering, procurement, operations, and facilities stakeholders on deployment strategies supporting capacity planning, efficiency, safety, ramp timelines, and scalability.
  • Drive technical execution strategy, deployment schedule alignment, and critical path coordination for factory development initiatives.
  • Identify infrastructure dependencies, integration risks, and manufacturing readiness gaps; evaluate capital infrastructure alternatives based on scope, cost, schedule, performance, and scalability.
  • Support project scope development, budget planning, contractor proposals, and procurement, and drive corrective actions to maintain alignment with production objectives.
  • Lead cross-functional technical coordination among engineering, operations, facilities, supply chain, contractors, OEM vendors, and external partners.
  • Develop and maintain factory configuration records, infrastructure standards, technical requirements, and deployment documentation.
  • Capture lessons learned and drive continuous improvement in engineering execution, infrastructure planning, deployment consistency, and repeatable factory development methods.
