About The Position

Coffman Engineers is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer with ten to fifteen years of experience for its DC Metro office. This role involves consulting engineering and project management, requiring a self-motivated team player for a challenging opportunity within a dynamic firm. The successful candidate will collaborate with the business development team and other discipline leads on technical proposals and will actively participate in marketing and business development. This position offers the chance to build and mentor an engineering team in a collaborative, multidiscipline office, and to work directly with clients providing consulting services. Applicants must be proficient in all aspects of electrical systems design and specification, comfortable consulting to architects, owners, and general contractors, and eager to work within a multidiscipline engineering team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.S) in Electrical engineering or related field from an accredited college or university
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Electrical Engineering (required)
  • 10 to 15 years of experience
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Revit
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Project Management experience and/or certifications
  • Desire to lead inter-disciplinary projects and project teams
  • Must be well versed in all aspects of electrical systems design and specification
  • Must be familiar with electrical/energy codes and standards (NEC, IEEE, NESC, IESNA, IECC, etc.)
  • Must have SKM, ETAP, or similar electrical modeling software experience
  • The focus of the experience must be in the power industry associated with electrical engineering and design of Industrial, higher education, healthcare, federal government and/or commercial projects
  • Able to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • Possess strong critical thinking, organizational, and analytical abilities
  • Maintain positive working relationships with internal and external customers
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Powerpoint software preferred

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with lighting design is desired, but not required
  • Experience with Telecom, A/V, Cybersecurity, and security designs is desired, but not required
  • Local AHJ experience and relationships is a plus
  • Active local industry involvement is a plus
