About The Position

The Senior Electrical Engineer will collaborate with key stakeholders to develop engineering drawings that meet client and regulatory requirements. This role requires strong organizational skills, proficiency in process documentation, and the ability to mentor junior engineers while fostering a collaborative departmental culture. The engineer will be responsible for creating designs for low voltage electrical switchgear assemblies/systems, replacement breakers, and related equipment, often from scratch. They will work closely with mechanical engineers, production, purchasing, and vendors to ensure drawings, submittals, and BOM packages meet all customer, manufacturing, regulatory, and project specifications. The role also involves developing and reviewing testing plans with the QA and Testing group, following and improving standard design processes, making design changes throughout a product's lifecycle, and supporting other departments like project management, production, and sales. A hands-on approach is expected when working with the production team to resolve issues, and a key responsibility is mentoring junior engineers and promoting collaboration.

Requirements

  • Proficient with AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Ability to work on the assignments with minimal guidance and navigate difficult situations and tasks by working with the key stakeholders and peers.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills and the ability to work with stakeholder teams of various levels of technical understanding.
  • 3 to 7 years of progressive electrical engineering design experience, with significant experience in switchgear for marine, heavy industrial, and oil and gas industries.
  • 3+ years of experience with electro-mechanical power system design, including low and medium voltage power distribution, motor control centers, controls integration, and arc flash protection.
  • Experience with UL891
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the assigned facilities.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively using phones or computer software.
  • Regularly required to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch and lift to 50lbs. at times.
  • Must be able to travel between MCG locations as needed

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with REVIT and Inventor
  • Experience in generator and automation controls, specifically PLC/HMI knowledge of Rockwell/Siemens and Woodward
  • PE license in power systems and controls a strong plus or demonstrated ability to acquire one
  • Satisfactory completion of additional background screening

Responsibilities

  • Create designs specific to low voltage electrical switchgear assemblies/systems, replacement breakers, and related equipment mostly from scratch.

  • Work closely and proactively with a hands-on approach with the production team to resolve identified issues quickly.
  • Mentor junior engineers and promote a culture of collaboration.
  • Complete projects and performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
