Senior Electrical Engineer
About The Position
Sargent & Lundy Consulting (SLC) works on behalf of clients to support electric power projects. We evaluate and optimize technical, commercial, environmental, and financial aspects of the projects for a variety of clients. In this role, you will provide development support, conceptual design and owner’s engineer services to clients including performing technical evaluations of electric power generation projects and facilities. You will also have the opportunity to support project economic and cost analysis, risk assessments, and contract development. Your responsibilities will include engineering design reviews, technical due diligence, project development support, and conceptual design. Particular experience in electrical design of thermal power projects is desired. You will have the opportunity to travel within North America as well as internationally.
Requirements
- BS in electrical engineering from a Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board-accredited undergraduate program or a US based ABET-accredited program with a strong academic background.
- 12 or more years of experience in the electric power industry.
- Experience in detailed design of medium voltage electrical systems of thermal power projects, specifically utility-scale: Simple cycle gas turbines, Combined cycle projects, Coal fired generation, or Reciprocating engines (RICE).
- Experience in development support and conceptual design of thermal power projects.
- Excellent technical communication and writing skills.
- Must be a citizen of a country listed in Appendix A to Part 810 of the Code of Federal Regulations.

- Experience in technical due diligence and owner’s engineering design reviews of thermal power projects.
- General understanding of power station operations and performance reviews.
- General understanding of process design at electric power generation facilities.
- Economic, cost analysis, and contract development experience.
- Familiarity with international design codes and standards.
- Experience programming or scripting (e.g., Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel) to automate engineering tasks.
- Additional learning, such as a minor, certificate, or other experience in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or related fields that enables effective oversight of automation and agentic AI-enabled engineering workflows.
Responsibilities

- Direct automation and process-improvement work, for example, how teams automate calculations, summarize technical documents, or generate design documentation and guiding when and how AI or agentic AI tools are used while ensuring results are checked.
- Oversee engineers who program or script (e.g., Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel) to automate engineering tasks, with review of automated outputs.
