About The Position

Arrive AI is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join their Product Team. This role will focus on the design, development, and integration of electrical systems for Arrive Points, which are smart lockers and mini-cross-docks for autonomous last-mile delivery. The engineer will be responsible for power management, actuator control, sensor integration, and IoT connectivity, ensuring robust and manufacturable electrical systems for AI-enabled logistics devices. The position involves working closely with mechanical, robotics, and systems engineers, taking the lead on electrical system architecture, particularly concerning actuators, sensors, and advanced multi-zone control schemes. The role is based in Fishers, IN.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in electrical engineering for product development, ideally in hard-tech, robotics, or IoT-driven systems.
  • Strong skills in schematic capture, PCB layout, and circuit simulation using tools such as Altium, KiCad, or Eagle, including multi-layer boards and mixed-signal design.
  • Proficiency writing C/C++ firmware for microcontrollers, with hands-on STM32 experience (STM32CubeIDE, HAL/LL drivers, or bare-metal) strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to design and build custom wiring harnesses and produce clear harness documentation for assembly and manufacturing.
  • Hands-on experience integrating and tuning off-the-shelf motion controllers, motor drivers, and servo/stepper systems.
  • Proven experience designing, integrating, and controlling actuators in complex systems.
  • Hands-on experience with sensor selection and integration for smart products.
  • Background in IoT, embedded systems, batteries, and power management; robotics experience is highly desirable.
  • Comfortable with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, debuggers (ST-Link, J-Link), and rework/soldering for board bring-up and troubleshooting.
  • Skilled at collaborating with mechanical, robotics, and systems engineers to align designs and solve integration issues.
  • Enthusiastic about designing electrical systems that enable AI-powered products and can evolve with emerging capabilities.
  • Analytical and resourceful, able to debug and optimize across hardware and firmware in a rapid-iteration startup environment.

Nice To Haves

  • RTOS experience (e.g., FreeRTOS) is a plus.
  • Experience with or exposure to centralized, multi-zonal control architecture is a big plus.

Responsibilities

  • Design Electrical Circuits: Create schematics, PCB layouts, and wiring architectures for power distribution, actuator control, and sensor networks.
  • Build Custom Control Hardware: Design and bring up custom control boards and breakout boards that tie together microcontrollers, sensors, actuators, and power systems for Arrive Points.
  • Develop Embedded Firmware: Write, test, and maintain C/C++ firmware on STM32 microcontrollers, including peripheral drivers, communication interfaces (UART, SPI, I2C, CAN), real-time control loops, and low-power operating modes.
  • Integrate Motion Control: Select, integrate, and configure off-the-shelf motion controllers and motor drivers, and build the electrical and firmware interfaces that connect them to the broader system.
  • Design Wiring Harnesses: Specify, document, and build custom wiring harnesses, including connector selection, wire gauge, routing, strain relief, and harness drawings suitable for manufacturing.
  • Integrate Components: Engineer how actuators, sensors, and controllers fit into larger system architectures for Arrive Points.
  • Validate Designs Early: Use ECAD, circuit simulation (e.g., SPICE), and bench prototypes to validate and iterate designs before committing to builds, accelerating development and reducing costly revisions.
  • Prototype & Test: Build and iterate circuit boards and subsystems, validating performance, safety, and manufacturability.
  • Optimize Power Efficiency: Design battery systems, power control circuits, and energy management solutions for low-power, always-on devices, in both hardware and firmware.
  • Support Robotics Interfaces: Ensure Arrive Points' electrical systems interface seamlessly with robotic systems and control architectures.
  • Troubleshoot & Resolve Issues: Rapidly debug hardware, firmware, and harness issues across prototyping and production, ensuring reliable field performance.
  • Enable AI-Driven Hardware: Build electrical systems that support AI processors, sensors, and data flows, making devices intelligent, power-efficient, and scalable.
