About The Position

Safe Fleet develops innovative electronics for the emergency vehicle market, including lighting systems, pressure governors, sensor-based controls, and other mission-critical components. Our products help fire, EMS, and utility professionals operate more safely and efficiently in the field. We’re growing and looking for a hands-on Senior Electrical Engineer Manager to help lead product development while managing a small team of engineers. As a Senior Electrical Engineer Manager, you’ll take ownership of the design and development of embedded electronic products—from concepts through production. You'll lead electrical architecture decisions, oversee PCB development, and guide a team of 2–3 engineers. This is a technical leadership role for someone passionate about building reliable, field-ready products and mentoring engineers.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of microcontroller-based hardware design. (e.g. ARM family of processors)
  • Strong understanding of electronic design for EMC / EMI compliance
  • Hands-on experience with schematic capture and PCB layout tools (e.g., Altium).
  • Experience leading or mentoring engineers in a team environment.
  • Strong understanding of communication protocols (CAN, I2C, SPI, UART, etc.).
  • Experience integrating wireless technologies (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Cellular, LoRa).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Strong understanding of SoC integration challenges at subsystem and full chip level.
  • Experience with test equipment such as signal generators, multimeters, oscilloscopes, etc.
  • Hands-on experience with laboratory test and debug.
  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
  • 10+ years of experience implementing and maintaining embedded systems.
  • 6+ years of experience managing cross functional electrical engineers.

Nice To Haves

  • Background in automotive, off-road, industrial, or emergency vehicle systems.
  • Familiarity with sensors, power electronics, and motor control applications is a plus.
  • Exposure to safety and regulatory standards such as SAE, UL, CE and FCC.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, iterative development environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop embedded electronic systems for products such as vehicle lighting, pressure governors, sensors, and control modules.
  • Drive hardware development, including schematic design, PCB layout functional and system level testing.
  • Lead technical decision-making and provide day-to-day guidance for a team of 2–3 engineers.
  • Collaborate with mechanical engineers, software developers, manufacturing engineers, and product managers to deliver robust, manufacturable solutions.
  • Define product architectures, select components (microcontrollers, sensors, drivers, etc.), and ensure performance and regulatory compliance.
  • Manage development schedules, priorities, and resource planning for your team.
  • Support product testing, validation, and transition to manufacturing.
  • Improve development processes, documentation, and design standards.
  • Develop and maintain HW component, system level specifications and functional test plans.
  • Work with teams to improve techniques and drive engineering best practices.
