About The Position

Dewberry is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer in Peoria, IL. This role is responsible for providing technical guidance and training/mentoring of design resources in all areas of electrical engineering. The Senior Electrical Engineer will assist Project/Client Managers by providing technical guidance to help meet client desires and budget, and will work with a team of engineers on a variety of private, public, and federal projects. This individual will also collaborate with architectural, mechanical, structural, and other disciplines to provide full-range services to local and regional clients. The position involves providing technical guidance associated with electrical requirements to accomplish commitments and reports to the Electrical Discipline Manager. Dewberry’s Peoria, IL office has over 40 design professionals, including a large Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Structural (MEPS) Group focused on design services for nationwide clients in specialized facility types and specialized design services. The office has experience in high-performance buildings, net-zero energy design, renewable energy technologies, microgrid and energy storage system design, energy and climate resilience, and services related to decarbonization/electrification of the built environment. The MEPS group includes subject matter experts in leadership roles in international professional organizations such as ASHRAE. Repeat clients include universities, state, local, and federal government agencies, and large global industrial manufacturers. The MEPS service line is ranked #30 Nationally among MEP Giants. Due to backlog growth and accelerating demand for engineering expertise in the energy market, Dewberry is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their Peoria, IL office.

Requirements

  • Accomplished electrical engineer/PE
  • 8+ years of progressive technical experience in the design of power distribution, lighting, life safety, and telecommunications systems.
  • Technical oversight of multiple projects with proven success providing technical oversight on projects that meet contract specifications and technical standards to the client on time and within budget.
  • Self-motivated with highly developed verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
  • Well organized, takes good notes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical guidance and quality oversight, including code review, of all project work involving electrical engineering.
  • Provide technical training and development of staff.
  • Establish and improve standards, practices, guidelines, and specifications for the electrical discipline area.
  • Serve as Engineer of Record.
  • Provide 'on-the-spot' advice and decisions, including technical and cost estimates.
  • Coordinate with all involved disciplines, including outside consultants.
  • Act as the technical interface with code officials and contractors.
