About The Position

The Electrical Engineer IV serves as the electrical discipline lead at the project level, overseeing electrical design and managing budgets for projects ranging from simple to highly complex. The role requires a deep understanding of electrical documentation development and field implementation across all project phases, with an emphasis on designing and engineering electrical systems for new construction projects. The engineer coordinates with internal teams and external partners, manages multiple priorities and complex tasks, and directs and mentors electrical design and engineering staff from entry-level through senior. The role ensures workflows align with client expectations and project goals, and may be performed independently or under the direction of a Project Manager. The position plays a key role in delivering high-quality, technically sound electrical design solutions.

Requirements

ABET-accredited Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering.
Minimum of 10 years of experience, preferably in a design firm setting.
Professional Engineering (PE) registration.
Expertise in electrical system design for new construction, including medium- and low-voltage power distribution, lighting, grounding/bonding, and special systems.
Strong understanding of electrical codes and intermediate knowledge of building codes.
Experience leading field surveys and preparing detailed technical reports.
Proficiency in cross-discipline coordination and collaboration with construction partners, vendors, and manufacturers.
Ability to troubleshoot complex electrical and system issues effectively.

Responsibilities

Serve as the primary electrical discipline lead for large, complex projects.
Manage project budgets and schedules from an electrical design perspective.
Interface with clients, contractors, and external stakeholders.
Lead electrical system design programming and master planning.
Design and engineer electrical systems for new builds, including power distribution systems (4160V, 480V, 240V, and 120V), lighting systems, grounding and bonding, and special systems.
Oversee quality assurance for electrical design documents, calculations, and specifications.
Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and designers.
Support construction activities, including RFIs, submittal reviews, punch lists, and progress reporting.
Develop and deliver internal training presentations on electrical design and engineering best practices.
Collaborate with Project Managers on proposals, resource planning, and scheduling for the electrical scope of work.
Coordinate with internal teams and external partners.
Manage multiple priorities and complex tasks.
Direct and mentor electrical design and engineering staff from entry-level through senior.
Ensure workflows align with client expectations and project goals.
