About The Position

The Senior Electrical Engineer 1 will work in a project-team environment with engineers and designers to design, modify, and analyze electrical systems for new and existing nuclear power plants. The role involves investigating, troubleshooting, and resolving a variety of electrical engineering issues, with a focus on design for existing nuclear plants. The engineer prepares and reviews design change packages, calculations, equipment procurement specifications, and conceptual-design scoping documents. The role also involves evaluating equipment vendors, coordinating with other engineering disciplines and clients, reviewing vendor documents, attending client meetings and site walkdowns, and traveling to client and vendor offices and plant sites. During project implementation, the engineer supports site installation activities and assists the project manager in delivering the engineering scope on schedule and within budget. The position is responsible for the technical, financial, and administrative performance of the engineering scope, including communicating scope and deliverables, tracking progress and project status, coordinating deliverables, reporting progress, and resolving open items and emergent issues. Sargent & Lundy’s Nuclear Power Group works on nuclear engineering, design, and licensing projects, including existing plant life extensions and digital modernization, advanced reactor technology, small modular reactors, reactor restarts, coal-to-nuclear initiatives, and international new-build projects.
