Senior Electrical Designer (full-time remote)
About The Position
IPS is seeking a Senior Electrical Designer to join its Electrical Engineering team based out of its Burlington, Massachusetts office. The position may also be performed remotely. The designer works independently on projects assigned by a Project Manager or Lead Engineer and contributes throughout the design process, including preliminary assessments, concept development, design, problem resolution, production of drawings and specifications, and communication with customers and vendors. The role may involve several concurrent projects, providing specialized technical expertise, and some management responsibility.
Requirements
- At least 15 years of previous electrical design experience.
- Proficiency in using computers for design and understanding of CAD operations.
- General knowledge of all aspects of electrical systems.
- Demonstrated ability to solve problems, communicate effectively with key personnel, manage time efficiently, and produce correct designs within budgeted time.
Nice To Haves
- Technical or associate degree from an accredited technical institution or college in electrical engineering.
- Experience with Revit, SKM, or other electrical software.
Responsibilities
- Develop design concepts and prepare documents during design development and detailed design phases.
- Correct and update electrical design documents and develop solutions to design problems.
- Prepare engineering studies and schematic designs for new systems, and analyze the operation of existing systems.
- Use computer-aided design technologies to develop sketches, drawings, and construction documents.
- Review drawings and documents for compliance with company design and production standards.
- Work with equipment suppliers and vendors to obtain information needed to complete designs.
- Interact regularly with clients to establish project scope and design intent.
- Check the quality and coordination of work to ensure documents reflect design intent and necessary coordination.
- Coordinate completion of project documents within the company and externally with clients and other design professionals.
- Coordinate design work with related engineering disciplines.
- Attend job and construction meetings and participate in coordination of the work.
- Perform special projects as assigned.
