Senior Electrical Application Engineer

Galtra Solutions
•$125,000 - $160,000•Remote

About The Position

This is a senior-level, hands-on application engineering role. You will own electrical application engineering for Galtra’s prefabricated platforms, bridging customer requirements, technical design, and vendor execution. You will operate as a senior individual contributor with clear ownership of electrical configuration, integration assumptions, and execution readiness. This role does not serve as Engineer of Record. Final stamped designs remain with the EOR and owner appointed engineers. Electrical systems depth is essential. Working knowledge of mechanical systems, controls, and automation is a strong advantage. Candidates who can operate across disciplines, make informed technical tradeoffs, and translate between design intent, manufacturing realities, and operational constraints will be highly favored. This person will communicate and operate in line with organizational goals and values, as well as departmental objectives.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of electrical system principles, including load analysis, grounding, protection coordination, and arc-flash safety
  • Deep working knowledge of prefabricated and modular electrical equipment, including PDCs, switchgear, MCCs, UPS systems, generators, transformers, and bus duct
  • Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD Electrical, Revit, or similar) for producing one-lines, wiring diagrams, panel schedules, and submittals
  • Skilled in electrical analysis tools such as ETAP, SKM, or EasyPower
  • Working knowledge of mechanical systems, controls, and automation, with the ability to operate across disciplines
  • Familiar with applicable codes and standards, including NEC, IEEE, UL, and NFPA 70E
  • High attention to detail with the ability to maintain tight revision control across engineering documentation
  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate technical tradeoffs, resolve complex design challenges, and recommend cost-risk solutions
  • Effective communicator, able to translate customer requirements into manufacturable, scalable technical solutions
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple deliverables, and meet design freeze deadlines
  • Strong collaboration skills for working across mechanical, controls, sales, supply chain, and operations teams
  • Ability to independently own configuration decisions and execution readiness as a senior individual contributor
  • Ability to troubleshoot effectively during prototyping, FAT/SAT, and first-article builds
  • Able to work effectively in a remote environment with minimal supervision and strong self-management skills
  • Ability to leverage AI and emerging technologies to optimize workflows and support innovation
  • Must be able to rent vehicles and have a valid driver’s license.
  • BS in Electrical Engineering required.
  • 7+ years of experience in electrical systems, power distribution, or industrial product development.
  • Deep knowledge of electrical design fundamentals including load analysis, grounding, protection, and arc-flash principles.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree or equivalent industry experience valued.
  • Mission-critical or data center experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with data center electrical systems including PDCs, UPS systems, generators, and switchgear.
  • Exposure to FAT, SAT, or system-level electrical testing.
  • Familiarity with NEC, IEEE, UL, and NFPA 70E.
  • Hands-on experience with ETAP, SKM, or EasyPower.
  • Comfort working with ERP/CRM systems such as NetSuite or HubSpot.

Responsibilities

  • Own electrical application engineering for Galtra prefabricated platforms through design freeze, including configuration tradeoffs, vendor assumptions, and cost-risk recommendations.
  • Lead development of prefabricated electrical systems such as power distribution centers (PDCs), switchgear lineups, MCCs, UPS-integrated systems, and packaged controls assemblies.
  • Translate customer one-lines, specifications, and sequences of operation into manufacturable, scalable solutions with defined configurations, options, and alternates.
  • Independently specify and size breakers, bus duct, transformers, UPS systems, VFDs, protection devices, and monitoring components.
  • Produce and maintain electrical one-lines, wiring diagrams, panel schedules, interlock descriptions, datasheets, and submittals under tight revision control.
  • Document electrical assumptions, exclusions, interfaces, and open risks to support defensible estimates and execution
  • Develop application guides, configuration notes, and electrical integration assumptions suitable for repeatable product deployment.
  • Collaborate closely with mechanical and controls teams to integrate electrical systems with BAS/BMS and EPMS architectures.
  • Develop vendor-ready electrical requirement packages and resolve technical clarifications; commercial terms and lead-time negotiation remain with Sales and Supply Chain.
  • Partner with the Supply Chain Director, Operations Director, Sales, and President to align electrical designs with vendor capacity, cost targets, lead times, and delivery schedules.
  • Accountable for electrical BOM accuracy and early identification of cost, supply-chain, and lead time risks.
  • Support prototyping, FAT/SAT, and first-article builds; troubleshoot issues and close gaps quickly.
  • Work directly with vendors and fabricators on layouts, routing, labeling standards, and QA/QC requirements.
  • Contribute to intellectual property development through modular electrical designs and DFM/VAVE principles.
  • Complete assigned deliverables on time and within budget
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
