About The Position

The Senior EHS Specialist leads and advances the company’s Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs across all facilities. This role is responsible for ensuring full regulatory compliance, strengthening a proactive safety culture, and driving continuous improvement in safety and environmental performance. This position owns and enhances the company’s Safety Management System (SMS), leads incident investigations, partners cross-functionally with Operations, Facilities, and Leadership, and serves as a subject matter expert on EHS programs. The Senior EHS Specialist plays a critical role in developing strategy, influencing behavior, and implementing scalable processes that reduce risk and support business growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, or related field
  • 6+ years of progressive experience in EHS, safety, or environmental compliance roles
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations and environmental compliance requirements
  • Proven experience leading incident investigations and implementing corrective action programs
  • Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional teams and drive organizational change
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and EHS management systems

Nice To Haves

  • Experience managing or leading EHS programs across multiple functions or sites preferred
  • Professional certifications such as CSP, ASP, or CHMM preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead and continuously improve the company’s Safety Management System (SMS), including program development, documentation, and implementation
  • Conduct comprehensive safety audits, risk assessments, and facility inspections; identify trends and implement corrective and preventive actions
  • Lead investigations into workplace incidents, near misses, and injuries; perform root cause analysis and drive closure of corrective actions
  • Own OSHA recordkeeping (300, 300A, 301) and ensure accuracy and compliance with all regulatory reporting requirements
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations, including hazardous waste management and reporting
  • Oversee hazardous materials programs, including proper labeling, storage, handling, and disposal
  • Design, develop, and deliver EHS training programs, including new hire orientation, regulatory training, and leadership-level safety initiatives
  • Lead emergency preparedness and response programs, including drills, risk planning, and business continuity coordination
  • Partner with Facilities and Operations to proactively address safety risks related to equipment, infrastructure, and processes
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external EHS audits, inspections, and regulatory agencies
  • Analyze safety metrics and KPIs; present insights and recommendations to leadership to drive performance improvements
  • Manage Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and maintain the chemical inventory system
  • Oversee environmental permits and ensure timely and accurate reporting
  • Drive employee engagement initiatives to strengthen safety culture and accountability across the organization
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior EHS staff or site coordinators as applicable
