About The Position

ICF seeks an on-call Senior Education and Child Welfare Data Management and Visualization Specialist to work within our Child and Family Well-Being (CFWB) Line of Business. This position specializes in capitalizing on both your content expertise (i.e., education, child welfare, behavioral health) as well as your data management and visualization skills. You will connect data sets to inform programmatic insights and use data to help our state and federal clients understand progress towards achieving their goals. This position is part-time and on-call. All candidates must be eligible to qualify for a Tier II Public Trust Security Clearance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in data science, education, sociology, social work, psychology, justice, or other social science related subject.
  • 4+ years of experience conducting qualitative and/or quantitative data collection or management, research analysis, or evaluation.
  • Demonstrated experience in using software such as Power BI, Tableau, and Power Query is required.
  • Demonstrated experience using SQL for querying and validating data is required.
  • All candidates must be eligible to qualify for a Tier II Public Trust Security Clearance.

  • Strong interest and/or experience in areas such as early education; K–12 and higher‑education research and evaluation; refugee, immigrant, and asylee services; child welfare; capacity building; technical assistance; mental and behavioral health; and continuous quality improvement (CQI).
  • Proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple activities in a fast‑paced, evolving environment.
  • Effective team builder and team player with the ability to navigate competing priorities, perspectives, and stakeholder needs.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including experience developing and delivering presentations and technical writing.

Responsibilities

  • Clean, merge, and structure data from multiple sources (Excel, SQL databases, CSV files) to ensure accuracy and readiness for visualization.
  • Design, build, and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using Tableau, Power BI, or similar tools to track key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Work closely with non-technical program managers and agency leadership to understand reporting needs, defining the "story" the data should tell and the visualizations that will support decision-making.
  • Create static and dynamic visuals for presentations, reports, and, testimonies, making complex findings easy to understand for diverse audiences. Establish repeatable reporting processes and templates that can evolve with changing landscapes.
  • Implement rigorous data validation and quality assurance processes to ensure the accuracy and integrity of all visual outputs.
  • Document data models, calculations, and dashboard logic; provide training to end-users to promote data literacy and self-service analytics.
  • Create valid and reliable user-friendly data collection tools that include validation and support data use. Conduct occasional observations or visits to locations nationwide.
