About The Position

ModSquad is seeking a Senior Editorial Writer & Content Strategist with a journalistic perspective to join their Marketing team. This role is part of a brand-led marketing strategy where the individual will identify stories, structure competitive positioning, and shape authoritative content for publication on behalf of the company's executive leadership. This is not a typical content marketing role focused on CMS feeding or keyword optimization. Instead, it requires a writer and editor capable of interviewing executives, uncovering compelling narratives within client work, and crafting pieces that resonate with professionals in CX, Trust & Safety, and digital operations. The position is within the Content & Creative Production function, reporting to the Head of Brand. Collaboration will be with the VP of Marketing, Account Management, Sales, and internal subject matter experts. The role also involves providing editorial direction to a junior writer. Ideal candidates will have experience in trade publications, writing editorial for B2B brands with a distinct point of view, or ghostwriting executive bylines that avoid sounding like press releases.

Requirements

  • 6–8 years of professional writing experience, with a meaningful portion in journalism, editorial, or trade publishing
  • Demonstrable experience in executive ghostwriting, with samples you can speak to
  • Background covering or writing for audiences in one or more of: customer experience, enterprise SaaS, trust & safety, BPO/outsourcing, or digital operations
  • Familiar with how trade publications work, including sponsored content, co-authorship, and pitching editorial angles
  • Comfortable in plain text workflows, Markdown, and GitHub
  • Story Sense: Ability to extract a story from a conversation and identify valuable discussion times
  • Argument Construction: Ability to build a coherent, logical argument from ideas or a rough brief
  • Craft: Knowledge of sentence diagramming, the Paramedic Method from Revising Prose, or familiarity with Several Short Sentences About Writing and its application
  • Editorial Judgment: Ability to operate with judgment, push back when a brief lacks a story, and not just execute
  • Self-Direction: Ability to be fast, self-directed, and set production pace without heavy oversight
  • Standards: Allergic to AI-generated content and proactive in improving job descriptions
  • Portfolio of writing samples
  • Comprehensive and grammatically correct responses to application questions
