About The Position

The Senior Editor, Access Atlanta and Content Development oversees all aspects of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution's popular things-to –do, revenue-generating brand. This senior leader also leads strategy in collaboration with sales senior leaders in the development and execution of sponsored and ad-supported content across Access Atlanta and The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. This role merges editorial strategy, content operations, cross functional workflow leadership, and revenue-driving content initiatives. They will lead content producers, freelancers, and operational contributors, establishing scalable frameworks, developing editorial sales alignment, and responsible for driving audience growth across platforms.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and 8 years’ experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master's degree and 6 years’ experience; a Ph.D. and 3 years’ experience in a related field; or 12 years’ experience in a related field.
  • 3+ years’ experience in management or leadership role
  • 5+ years collaborating with or supporting advertising/sponsorship sales teams strongly preferred
  • Sponsored content development
  • CMS platforms (ARC, WordPress, etc.)
  • Analytics tools (Google Analytics, social dashboards, 1stparty data platforms)
  • Social content strategy and measurement
  • Strong project and workflow management skills.
  • Proven ability to drive alignment across diverse teams.
  • Highly collaborative with strong communication and documentation abilities.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data to guide decisions.
  • Deep understanding of content marketing and journalistic standards.
  • High emotional intelligence, adaptability, and a problem solver mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Develop elevated strategy for the evolution of the AJC’s Access Atlanta brand and team with goals of reaching new audience and creating new opportunities for revenue-generating content.
  • Oversee the Access Atlanta editorial budget, including management of freelance and marketing decisions and needs.
  • Oversee content producers responsible for creating or coordinating original multimedia content.
  • Guide the creation of content that aligns with company KPIs and journalistic standards.
  • Own and refine efficient workflows for Access and with other newsroom teams, ensuring accountability and clarity.
  • Mentor and grow team capability, setting and monitoring performance goals aligned with overall company strategy.
  • Build and maintain structured, scalable processes for company-wide sponsored content programs that align with company strategy and goals.
  • Lead annual and quarterly budget and revenue aligned editorial planning with Sales and Editorial.
  • Own the sales facing editorial calendar, visibility documents, and content opportunity roadmaps.
  • Develop clear documentation from ideation to execution to post campaign reporting.
  • Serve as the central operational senior leader collaborating with other senior leaders across the company, including Sales, Editorial, Marketing and Product development.
  • Ensure clear roles, ownership points, and checkpoints across teams.
  • Balance editorial integrity with monetization needs, navigating tradeoffs thoughtfully.
  • Secure assets and resources required for successful content sponsorships.
  • Facilitate stakeholder signoff at all major stages to prevent misalignment or delays.
  • Direct content and social strategy to grow and engage audiences across website, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, and emerging platforms.
  • Identify and seize peak audience opportunities (breaking news, viral moments, major events).
  • Drive content experimentation and innovation in story formats, video, and social approaches.
  • Analyze performance using analytics tools; develop insights to refine strategy.
