About The Position

The New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets is seeking a Senior Economist (Milk Marketing) to work in Albany, NY. The Senior Economist (Milk Marketing) assists Department officials in analyzing and evaluating the dairy industry, milk marketing orders, and other state and federal agricultural policies to determine the economic impacts and costs or benefits. This position also serves as Secretary to the New York Dairy Promotion Advisory Board and assists the Department in administrative activities of the Milk Marketing Advisory Board. The Senior Economist (Milk Marketing) is a full-time position working 37.5 hours per week, Monday-Friday. The position will be based in our Albany office located at 10B Airline Dr., Albany, NY 12235. We are conveniently located near the Albany International Airport and provide ample free parking and a comfortable work environment. Opportunities for telecommuting are available in accordance with the agency’s Telecommuting Program Guidelines.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in economics or a bachelor's degree including or supplemented by 18 semester credit hours in economics and an additional six credits in computer science, economics, econometrics, mathematics, operations research, research methods or statistics.
• Two years of professional experience performing economic research.

Nice To Haves

• A Juris Doctor, master's or higher degree in a related field can substitute for one year of specialized experience.
