About The Position

BGC Okanagan is hiring Casual Senior Early Childhood Educators to join their Early Years team at their Ellison, Alexis Park, and Mission Hill clubs. The role involves supporting children, building relationships with families, and creating engaging learning experiences. Requirements

  • Early Childhood Education Certificate with current License to Practice
  • Two (2) years of recent related experience.
  • Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Successful completion of the agency screening process, including clear criminal record check
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada (Canadian citizens, permanent residents, and refugees in Canada with legal status).

Responsibilities

  • Welcome new children and their families to the program, ensuring enrolment information is in order, including medical and emergency information, dietary instructions, and parental forms, following childcare licensing requirements.
  • Plan, carry out, and evaluate developmentally appropriate and age-specific activities and experiences for children using modeling, observing, questioning, demonstrating, and reinforcing techniques.
  • Develop daily program schedules that include indoor/outdoor, active/quiet, and individual and group activities.
  • Ensure activities adhere to BGC Okanagan Policies and Childcare Licensing Regulations.
  • Identify the abilities, interests, and needs of children and develop individualized and group curriculum based on these.
  • Recommend referrals or additional services for children with professionals such as behavioral therapists, occupational therapists, and speech-language pathologists.
  • Report on progress, behaviors, and other issues.
  • Contribute to reports for children with disabilities, maintain records, care plans, and statistics.
  • Model developmentally appropriate activities and positive guiding techniques through daily contact with children and team members.
  • Attend to the children’s physical needs, which may include diapering, toileting, and eating.
  • Administer first aid and medication in accordance with established policy.
  • Maintain a healthy, safe, culturally, and developmentally appropriate environment in which children can learn and grow.
  • Identify and remove potential hazards.
  • Establish positive relationships and open communication with parents/guardians.
  • Communicate with families about children’s growth and development.
  • Request input from and participation of parents in the development of programs.
