About The Position

BGC Okanagan is hiring a full-time Senior Early Childhood Educator to work in our Early Years Program at the Martin Avenue Club. This role offers an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of children and their families within a positive and supportive team culture. The position involves planning, implementing, and evaluating age-appropriate activities, ensuring adherence to licensing regulations, and fostering strong relationships with children, families, and team members.

Requirements

  • Early Childhood Education Certificate with current License to Practice
  • Two (2) years of recent related experience.
  • Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Successful completion of the agency screening process, including clear criminal record check
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada (Canadian citizens, permanent residents, and refugees with legal status)

Responsibilities

  • Welcomes new children and their families to the program, ensuring all enrolment information is complete and meets licensing requirements.
  • Plans, implements, and evaluates developmentally appropriate and age-specific activities and experiences for children using various techniques.
  • Develops daily program schedules that include a balance of indoor/outdoor, active/quiet, and individual/group activities.
  • Ensures all activities adhere to BGC Okanagan Policies and Childcare Licensing Regulations.
  • Identifies children's abilities, interests, and needs to develop individualized and group curriculum.
  • Recommends referrals or additional services for children with professionals when needed.
  • Reports on children's progress, behaviours, and other issues, contributing to reports for children with disabilities and maintaining records.
  • Models developmentally appropriate activities and positive guiding techniques.
  • Attends to children's physical needs, including diapering, toileting, and feeding.
  • Administers first aid and medication in accordance with established policy.
  • Maintains a healthy, safe, culturally, and developmentally appropriate environment for children.
  • Identifies and removes potential hazards in the environment.
  • Establishes positive relationships and open communication with parents/guardians.
  • Communicates with families about children's growth and development.
  • Requests input from and participation of parents in program development.
