About The Position

BGC Okanagan is hiring a full-time Senior Early Childhood Educator to work in our Early Years Program at the Martin Avenue Club. This role offers an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of children and their families within a positive and supportive team culture. The position involves planning, implementing, and evaluating age-appropriate activities, ensuring adherence to licensing regulations, and fostering strong relationships with children, families, and team members.

Requirements

Early Childhood Education Certificate with current License to Practice
Two (2) years of recent related experience.
Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
Successful completion of the agency screening process, including clear criminal record check
Legally entitled to work in Canada (Canadian citizens, permanent residents, and refugees with legal status)

Responsibilities

Welcomes new children and their families to the program, ensuring all enrolment information is complete and meets licensing requirements.
Plans, implements, and evaluates developmentally appropriate and age-specific activities and experiences for children using various techniques.
Develops daily program schedules that include a balance of indoor/outdoor, active/quiet, and individual/group activities.
Ensures all activities adhere to BGC Okanagan Policies and Childcare Licensing Regulations.
Identifies children's abilities, interests, and needs to develop individualized and group curriculum.
Recommends referrals or additional services for children with professionals when needed.
Reports on children's progress, behaviours, and other issues, contributing to reports for children with disabilities and maintaining records.
Models developmentally appropriate activities and positive guiding techniques.
Attends to children's physical needs, including diapering, toileting, and feeding.
Administers first aid and medication in accordance with established policy.
Maintains a healthy, safe, culturally, and developmentally appropriate environment for children.
Identifies and removes potential hazards in the environment.
Establishes positive relationships and open communication with parents/guardians.
Communicates with families about children's growth and development.
Requests input from and participation of parents in program development.
