Senior E2E Supply Planner

Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine•Horsham, PA
•$112,000 - $180,550

About The Position

This individual-contributor role plans Pack & Label (P&L) and distribution activities for patient kits, drug product (DP), and active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) to support the First-Patient-In date and consistently meet successful patient-dose targets throughout the lifecycle of J&J Pharma R&D trials, within budget. The role generally focuses on large, complex studies and compounds. DP, kit supply, and inventory planning feed the cS&OP Demand Review process, initiate the cS&OP cycle, and trigger execution of P&L and distribution plans. The planner configures planning systems, transitions planning activities from CSI during study design, provides master data, configures distribution networks, and sets planning and inventory parameters in relevant systems. The role owns the trial supply budget for P&L and distribution, monitors budget performance with Logistics, communicates status and risks, and adapts supply strategies as trial execution or protocols change. The role supports demand planning, develops supply and net-requirements plans, and manages inventory targets at depots and sites to support timely delivery while minimizing overage. It makes study risks transparent through cS&OP, develops scenario analyses to support decisions, and escalates issues through Executive cS&OP. The planner works independently with limited coaching, supports continuous improvement, promotes effective use of planning processes and systems, and helps resolve supply and inventory issues at study and compound level. Success requires analytical and planning capability, sound understanding of clinical trials and the interdependencies between clinical supply and Clinical Operations, strong communication and stakeholder-influencing skills, and the ability to coordinate cross-functional and virtual teams.

Requirements

  • University or bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience.
  • Four to six years of experience, preferably in clinical demand and/or supply planning.
  • Strong analytical and planning skills, including the ability to manage complexity, identify process gaps through data or root-cause analysis, and predict demand- and supply-related risks and impacts.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex topics clearly to all organizational levels.
  • Thorough understanding of clinical trials and their operational dynamics.
  • Strong planning and cross-functional coordination skills, including the ability to build collaborative relationships and lead cross-functional or virtual teams when required.
  • English language proficiency.
  • General knowledge of GxP principles.

Nice To Haves

  • APICS certificate in Production and Inventory Management.
  • Experience in clinical supply Pack & Label or distribution, clinical trial operations, project management, or pharmaceutical/biotechnology research and development.
  • Experience with clinical demand and supply management tools such as MPT, OMP+, or SAP.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills with Microsoft Excel, OneNote, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Plan Pack & Label and distribution activities for patient kits, drug product, and active pharmaceutical ingredient to meet trial dates and patient-dose targets within budget.
  • Transition planning-related activities from CSI during the study design phase.
  • Provide master data, configure distribution networks in kit and DP planning systems, and set planning and inventory parameters with support from the Systems and RTSM teams.
  • Set and own the trial supply budget for P&L and distribution; coordinate with Logistics to meet or adjust budgets in relevant systems and inform CSI about budget status, risks, or significant changes.
  • Adapt supply strategies, supply-chain configuration, and planning parameters in response to changes in trial execution or protocol.
  • Verify that forecasts transfer correctly from 4C into OMP.
  • Develop supply strategies that meet clinical plans while optimizing drug overage.
  • Adapt net-requirements planning to the latest forecast recruitment rates and inventory strategy.
  • Use business tools to set and manage inventory targets at depots and sites, and guide TSM to support on-time delivery with minimal clinical-supply overage.
  • Make study risks transparent through the cS&OP process and identify and develop scenario analyses to support decision-making.
  • Escalate and interface with the management team via Executive cS&OP, with some guidance from the Team Lead.
  • Attend Kit RR meetings as needed to ensure P&L campaigns are QP/QP released by the OTD date.
  • Work independently with limited coaching, including during periods of high workload.
  • Support continuous-improvement initiatives and model effective use of core planning processes, systems, and tools.
  • Help manage and resolve supply and inventory issues at the study and compound level.
  • Analyze data and root causes to identify process gaps and predict risks or impacts in demand- and supply-related processes.
  • Gather diverse viewpoints and influence stakeholders within Clinical Supply Chain and other cross-functional groups.
  • Communicate complex information clearly and compellingly to all levels of the organization, in writing and verbally.
  • Coordinate cross-functionally and build collaborative relationships and teams, including leading virtual teams when required.
