About The Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytically minded professional to serve as the operational lead for our duty drawback programs. In this role, you will be responsible for maximizing duty recovery refunds while ensuring strict regulatory compliance. You will act as the primary owner of Brown-Forman’s drawback related systems and manage process execution, bridging the gap between supply chain operations, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance to ensure program integrity and optimization. You will act as the subject matter expert on drawback regulations, managing the end-to-end claim process—from data extraction and validation to filing and audit defense.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 5 or more years in regulated food/beverage manufacturing industry.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products.
  • Strong leadership skills, organizational skills, team player, and detail oriented.
  • Self starter with ability to independently organize work projects to conduct research, analyze data, interpret and present results in a concise format.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective work relationships with all levels of internal and external contacts.
  • Ability to complete assignments with accuracy and work a flexible schedule to meet deadlines.

  • Working knowledge of Customs and/or TTB regulations and ability to interpret and apply ruling changes, as well as understanding of related financial implications.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, validate, and submit complex duty drawback claim support to our customs broker.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of claims, including coordinating with customs brokers and legal counsel to resolve claim inquiries or data discrepancies.
  • Analyze large datasets of import and export history to identify "matching" opportunities for duty recovery.
  • Perform root-cause analysis on data gaps and collaborate with Supply Chain and IT to fix upstream data issues.
  • Calculate potential refunds for various drawback scenarios to support financial forecasting.
  • Review and reconcile monthly activity, identifying and investigating entry discrepancies and validating data for use in claims.
  • Ensure all drawback activities comply with relevant regulations.
  • Maintain a robust audit trail, ensuring all supporting documentation is archived and retrievable for the statutory 5-year period.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for CBP inquiries, desk reviews, and full compliance audits.
  • Participate in routine compliance audits, compile audit results, and provide summary of findings.
  • Monitor changes in trade legislation to assess their impact on drawback eligibility.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders (Production sites, Procurement, Logistics, Finance) to ensure new process / product flows are structured to maximize future drawback potential.
