Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
5+ years of experience as a drafter in aerospace or automotive fields.
Advanced design experience in SolidWorks including complex assemblies and configuration management on a PDM system.
Know ASME Y14 like the back of your hand and deploy that knowledge on the drawings.
Help the team achieve their goals by owning the drawing process and finding ways circumvent the roadblocks.

Nice To Haves

Have created drawings used for a flight certification program (FAA or MIL)
Detailed knowledge of how to create drawings for gears, screws, precision parts

Responsibilities

Keep the CAD structure clean with assemblies that make logical sense and configurations that allow for part variations
Create the detailed 2D drawings for complex mechanisms components and assemblies including precision gears, bearings, lead screws, braking systems, and encoders, avionics boxes.
Create reasonable part tolerance and perform stack-up analysis. Use fit classes to establish good part alignment. Read manufactures data sheets to size appropriate housings.
Deploy your knowledge of fabrication techniques (tool sizes, machine features) to minimize time with vendors and reduce overall cost.
