About The Position

As the Senior District Manager, you will be responsible for managing the financial performance and productivity of multiple Operating Units. You will ensure that Operating Units meet or exceed annual objectives, and you will be responsible to successfully implement organizational initiatives. Additionally, in this role you will be responsible for the Onboarding, Developing, Coaching, Mentoring, and Performance Management of all District Managers. This role is based out of Brampton and is responsible for overseeing multiple Hauling Sites and all Collections Operations in the Greater Toronto Area.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree (accredited), or in lieu of degree or High School Diploma GED or equivalent and two (2) years of relevant work experience required.
  • 5 years of prior work experience (in addition to education requirement) in Operations Management, including at least three years managing a team of two or more individuals required.
  • Must be able to maintain a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record throughout the duration of employment in this position.
  • Experience in a position involving operations, customer service, community relations, health and safety, financial and human resources function; experience as a supervisor or manager; experience implementing safety (OH&S) programs and equipment specifications; experience preparing and managing budgets, and experience resolving labor relations issues required.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements an area of responsibility operating plan consistent with accomplishing the long-range established objectives, enhancing effectiveness, and delineating responsibilities and authority.
  • Builds and develops operations and leadership team including District Managers and Operations Managers.
  • Reviews and evaluates performance with an area of responsibility continuously and establishes proper performance measures.
  • Counsels managers on execution of programs, and when necessary, provides direction for modification in work plans or implementation of contingency plans per prevailing business conditions.
  • Develops operating unit budget in a timely manner, forecasting financial and human resource needs for future time periods.
  • Assists managers in budget optimization; provides budget compliance support.
  • Oversees department personnel needs, including selecting, coaching, and training employees and evaluating employee performance. Provides input into termination, compensation, and promotion decisions.
  • Oversees District Managers and Operations Managers in the organization and scheduling of all necessary resources required to accomplish activities.
  • Conducts Profit & Loss reviews in partnership with Financial Analysts and develops and executes plans to improve profitability through optimization of equipment utilization, routing, labour costs, equipment maintenance and material costs.
  • Implements and maintains programs to improve the Market Area's safety, productivity, and profitability; Ensures compliance with the Ministry of Transportation (MTO)/Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) and other Federal and Provincial regulations.
