About The Position

The Senior District Business Manager (DBM) is a crucial role within Bristol Myers Squibb's customer model, focused on executing the company's aspiration to provide impactful engagement with Health Care Providers (HCPs) and drive the adoption of cardiovascular medicines. The DBM is responsible for leading, coaching, and motivating a team of approximately 6-10 Territory Account Specialists (TASs) to promote the BMS Cardiovascular portfolio and generate demand. This includes coaching TASs on selling skills, scientific engagement, and digital capabilities, ensuring continuous improvement in their core skills. The DBM also plays a key leadership role in business and account planning, championing the use of digital tools like Medical on Call and CE^3. The role requires inspiring and motivating a team to exceed business goals while fostering their professional growth. The DBM is aligned to specific accounts and covers the entire Cardiovascular portfolio. Reporting to the Regional Business Director, the DBM collaborates with various matrixed Commercial, Medical, and Access organizations, such as Scientific Engagement Partners (SEPs) and Field Access Managers (FAMs), to meet customer needs and sales targets. This is a field-based position, with the DBM expected to spend 100% of their time in the field with TASs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years of pharmaceutical industry experience or other related industry experience.
  • Prior experience as a District Business Manager in Pharmaceutical Sales, or equivalent experience in leading and managing high-performing teams is strongly preferred.
  • Pharma experience is strongly preferred, including an understanding of reimbursement processes, access, and distribution environment.
  • Proven track record of inspiring and leading teams to meet or exceed expectations and goals.
  • Proven successful track record of selecting, developing, and retaining talented individuals.
  • Previous experience that has required the use of analytical skills, selling skills, development of strong business acumen, and working knowledge of the pharmaceutical value chain.
  • Must meet the requirements of a “Qualified Driver” (at least 21 years of age, driver’s license in good standing, and acceptable driving risk level).

Responsibilities

  • Focused in-role coaching and developing of TASs, including conducting ride-alongs and ensuring continuous improvement in core skills and behaviors.
  • Championing the adoption of new capabilities and digital tools, such as CE^3 analytics and content personalization, and coaching TASs on their effective use.
  • Regularly convening the field team to exchange experiences, collect feedback, coach on change leadership, and encourage adoption of new ways of working.
  • Executing strategic planning activities, including promo program planning, budget planning, and HCP prioritization.
  • Ensuring continuous customer experience improvement.
  • Leading financial and program planning for the district.
  • Complying with all laws, regulations, and policies governing BMS conduct.
