About The Position

Leidos is seeking a Senior Distribution Engineer based on Oahu, Hawaii, to support local utility customers, projects, and the team. The role focuses on electric utility design engineering and delivering high-quality work while working directly with clients. Candidates already located on Maui and candidates from elsewhere in the United States who are interested in relocating are welcome; a competitive relocation package is available to eligible hires. The engineer develops and reviews distribution design work packages for overhead, underground, URD, make-ready, and street-light projects. The work involves customer GIS and WMS systems, engineering and construction standards, field and office work, structural and electrical calculations, project cost estimates, and coordination of utility conflicts. The role also covers complex cable and conduit projects, permitting and easements, medium-voltage switchgear and network system design, distribution protection and coordination, peer design reviews, and outage root-cause analysis and mitigation. Customer- and job-related travel is anticipated, reimbursed at IRS-approved rates, and may include overnight travel. Leidos’ Power Delivery Services team provides power and telecommunications expertise to utilities and mobile operators. The company describes a fast-paced, diverse work environment with flexible work hours and arrangements, and opportunities for career development, including PE licensure, PMP, leadership training, formal mentorship programs, and management opportunities.
