About The Position

This position offers the opportunity to work in a project team environment and lead other engineers and designers using knowledge of engineering and design practices. The role involves preparing/reviewing construction sketches and details for overhead and underground network services (4 kV through 34 kV), structural analyses, short circuit and voltage drop calculations, bill of material cost estimates, and traffic control plans/permit drawings. The engineer will work on project teams for the design of new oil and gas facilities, participate in Process Hazard Analysis and Design Reviews, and work directly with client representatives. Responsibilities include analyzing, designing, or reviewing priority feeds, supporting maintenance and recapitalization of distribution components, planning modifications, and developing work packages with construction support. Travel to client and vendor offices, as well as plant site locations, is expected for design reviews, construction coordination, and field verification. Requirements

Degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program
7 or more years of experience with electric utility distribution or relevant experience to be able to review work by others
Knowledgeable in physical distribution design methods and their application
Knowledgeable in applicable codes, standards, and distribution software programs including AutoCAD, ArcGIS, PoleForeman, etc.
Familiarity with design codes and standards such as NESC, NEC, ANSI, IEEE, GIS/GWD
Experience with complex overhead and underground distribution projects (120/208V through 34 kV)
Strong communication skills
Able to lead a project team

Nice To Haves

PLS CADD experience
Professional Engineering Registration or able to obtain a PE within 5 years
Experience in utility distribution inspections and/or construction
Familiarity with various distribution design/analysis software
Familiarity with GIS software
Minor, certificate, or other experience in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or related fields that enables effective oversight of automation and agentic AI-enabled engineering workflows

Responsibilities

Prepare/Review construction sketches and details for overhead and underground network services (4 kV through 34 kV)
Perform structural analyses
Conduct short circuit and voltage drop calculations
Develop Bill of Material Cost Estimates
Prepare traffic control plans and/or permit drawings
Work on project teams with other engineers involved in the design of new upstream and midstream oil and gas facilities
Participate in Process Hazard Analysis and Design Reviews
Work directly with the client representative to ask and answer questions related to the distribution design
Analyze, design or review priority feeds
Support maintenance and recapitalization of distribution components
Plan modifications to the system as well as designing and overseeing complex tasks
Develop work packages and provide construction support, when necessary
Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and to plant site locations for construction coordination and field verification of designs
Lead others in taking engineering problems from issue to solution by setting expectations for using data and modern tools such as automation and AI to improve workflows, reduce rework, and deliver cost-effective designs
Oversee engineers who program or script (e.g., Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel) to automate engineering tasks, with review of automated outputs
