Senior Director - Platform Engineering

Marvell Technology•Santa Clara, CA
•$213,240 - $319,400

About The Position

Marvell is seeking an engineering leader to build and lead a new Platform Solutions organization that transforms advanced silicon technologies into deployable systems for AI and cloud infrastructure. The organization will develop boards, switch systems, rack-scale infrastructure, and integrated platform solutions for hyperscale and enterprise data center customers. The role establishes the engineering function, defines its operating model, and scales a team to deliver customer-ready platform solutions. The Senior Director will oversee multidisciplinary engineering across hardware, systems, validation, integration, and manufacturing. The role owns platform engineering from concept through design, bring-up, qualification, production, and customer deployment, with responsibility for architecture decisions, engineering practices, validation, manufacturing readiness, and customer engagement. The successful candidate will build a high-performance organization, create repeatable processes, and coordinate across internal teams, customers, suppliers, ODMs, subcontractors, and contract manufacturers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 15+ years of leadership experience in networking, switching, data center infrastructure, or AI system development.
  • Proven experience leading hardware and systems engineering organizations.
  • Deep expertise in networking and switch-based platform development.
  • Strong experience designing and delivering complex boards and integrated systems.
  • Extensive experience with system bring-up, validation, qualification, and production deployment.
  • Hands-on experience working with ODMs, subcontractors, suppliers, and contract manufacturers.
  • Experience developing rack-scale infrastructure, AI systems, networking platforms, or data center solutions.
  • Proven success building and scaling engineering teams in high-growth environments.
  • Strong background creating engineering processes, governance, development methodologies, and execution frameworks.
  • Track record of delivering complex products from concept through customer deployment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AI infrastructure, Ethernet switching, optical interconnects, or rack-scale architectures.
  • Knowledge of high-speed interfaces including Ethernet, PCIe, UALink, and advanced interconnect technologies.
  • Experience supporting hyperscale customer deployments.
  • Familiarity with large-scale board manufacturing and system integration environments.
  • Experience leading globally distributed engineering organizations.
  • PhD in a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Build, lead, and scale a multidisciplinary engineering organization spanning hardware, systems, validation, integration, and manufacturing engineering.
  • Recruit, develop, and mentor engineers and technical experts; establish the engineering culture, operating model, and processes.
  • Drive organizational effectiveness, execution, accountability, collaboration, and innovation through growth, ambiguity, and changing priorities.
  • Lead development of networking platforms, switch systems, boards, modules, and rack-scale infrastructure solutions.
  • Own platform engineering execution from concept through design, bring-up, qualification, and production.
  • Drive architecture tradeoffs across hardware, software, mechanical, optical, thermal, and operational domains.
  • Develop product-ready systems integrating networking, optics, compute, memory, and infrastructure technologies that meet customer, quality, cost, and schedule requirements.
  • Lead design and development of complex high-speed boards and networking platforms; oversee bring-up, debugging, system integration, and performance optimization.
  • Drive system-level architecture decisions involving power, thermals, signal integrity, and reliability.
  • Establish robust engineering practices, design reviews, risk management, and technical governance across design, validation, and release cycles.
  • Establish board-, system-, and rack-level validation methodologies and build engineering laboratories for bring-up, validation, reliability testing, and customer qualification.
  • Drive electrical, thermal, functional, environmental, and performance validation programs, as well as scalable validation automation and data collection.
  • Ensure customer-ready quality and production readiness across programs.
  • Lead technical engagement with ODMs, subcontractors, manufacturing partners, and suppliers.
  • Drive Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Test (DFT), and production readiness initiatives.
  • Partner with contract manufacturers to scale products from prototype through volume production and develop manufacturing, test, and quality strategies.
  • Resolve technical and operational challenges across the supply chain ecosystem.
  • Engage directly with hyperscale, cloud, and enterprise customers; translate their requirements into engineering priorities and platform capabilities.
  • Support customer design reviews, deployments, issue resolution, and technical escalations.
  • Act as the executive engineering representative for platform development programs.

Benefits
