Senior Director, US Decision Science & AI Innovation

GSK•Philadelphia, PA
•$186,750 - $311,250

About The Position

The Senior Director, US Decision Science & AI Innovation owns the analytical and AI methods used to inform commercial decisions across US Commercial, including marketing mix and investment optimization, next-best-action and dynamic targeting, patient predictive triggering, and causal measurement. The role is accountable for scientific quality, reproducibility, explainability, and enterprise deployment of methods, decision engines, field and omnichannel triggers, and planning and measurement tools, as well as their adoption and sustained use. This is a player-coach position that combines hands-on analytics with setting standards and developing the organization. The role defines certified enterprise methods versus brand configurations, drives reuse across brands, and leads applied AI work spanning agentic AI, generative AI, and synthetic data. It directs offshore GCC analytic capacity on methodology and development, and works in partnership with brand teams, Insights & Analytics, data engineering, Digital & Technology, and data management. Brand teams and Insights & Analytics retain ownership of interpretation and commercial action.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 12+ years of experience with hands-on modeling.
  • Experience deploying predictive analytics, machine-learning algorithms, deep-learning algorithms, and/or information retrieval at scale.
  • End-to-end experience in model exploration, development, deployment, and management.
  • Experience developing insights and storylines by translating analysis and modeling.
  • Depth in commercial pharmaceutical methods such as marketing mix modeling, next-best-action, patient-level predictive modeling, or causal measurement, with accountability for results used in business decisions.
  • Production generative or agentic AI experience in commercial pharma under enterprise governance, with solutions shipped and in use.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s or PhD.
  • Experience building and deploying tools and methodologies for analytics and measurement of sales and marketing activities, such as market-mix modeling, cross-channel attribution, omnichannel segmentation and customer targeting, patient pathways, and omnichannel customer journey analysis and optimization.
  • End-to-end experience retrieving data and developing executive-level analysis using advanced analytics techniques.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work across cultural and functional boundaries, including partnership with offshore teams, with flexible communication and cultural awareness.
  • Leadership capability in a matrix organization, including inspiring change, agile decision-making, and solving sophisticated problems effectively.
  • Experience setting agentic AI vision and governance across an organization rather than a single team.
  • Working command of current GenAI tooling, including LLM APIs, prompting and context engineering, retrieval-augmented generation (vector stores, chunking, and retrieval evaluation), and LLMOps evaluation pipelines.
  • Familiarity with multimodal data, including structured claims alongside unstructured clinical notes and lab signals, and US commercial data assets such as IQVIA, Komodo, Symphony, and Veeva.
  • Skills in AI frameworks, algorithm optimization, artificial neural networks, computer programming, deep learning, feature engineering, Google Cloud Platform for machine learning, machine-learning algorithms and operations, Microsoft Azure Data and AI, ML frameworks, model evaluation, model training, model validation, performance optimization, and software development life cycle.

Responsibilities

  • Own the certified method portfolio, including marketing mix and investment optimization, next-best-action and dynamic targeting, patient predictive triggering, and causal measurement; drive reuse across brands and eliminate duplicate bespoke builds.
  • Own deployment of methods through enterprise capabilities, including decision engines and simulators, embedded field and omnichannel triggers, and planning and measurement tools; ensure adoption and sustained use.
  • Personally design, review, and build analytics as a player-coach, setting the technical bar through direct involvement.
  • Set and enforce standards for validation, versioning, documentation, reproducibility, and explainability; define which methods are certified enterprise methods versus brand configurations.
  • Lead the applied AI agenda across agentic AI, generative AI, and synthetic data, including multi-agent orchestration, retrieval-augmented generation, and evaluation pipelines; operate a prototype pipeline with evidence-based criteria to graduate or retire techniques.
  • Ensure methods, capabilities, and AI applications meet GSK Responsible AI, privacy, and data-use requirements, including model risk assessment, human oversight of automated recommendations, permitted-use compliance for patient-level data, model registration, and ongoing monitoring before scaling.
  • Partner with data engineering and Digital & Technology on the platform and engineering for these capabilities, and with data management on certified inputs.
  • Own build-versus-buy decisions, favoring rapid and efficient in-house development while buying where it accelerates delivery and can be absorbed into the GSK ecosystem; hold vendors to internal standards.
  • Serve as method authority for brand teams and Insights & Analytics, translate demand into a prioritized roadmap sequenced against published capacity, and communicate uncertainty and limitations to executive audiences.
  • Direct offshore GCC analytic capacity on methodology and development.
