Senior Director, Testing & Quality Engineering - Evinova

AstraZeneca•Boston, MA
•$203,214 - $304,820•Hybrid

About The Position

Evinova, a health tech business within the AstraZeneca Group, is hiring a hands-on senior testing leader to consolidate distributed testing teams into a unified, high-performing quality engineering function. The role owns quality engineering across Evinova’s product portfolio, including unified leadership, standards, tooling, automation maturity, and delivery accountability. The successful candidate will build and lead the function while operating it, establish Director-level testing leads for product areas, and define and enforce portfolio-wide GA-readiness standards. The role drives the shift from manual to automated functional testing, sets automation roadmaps and tooling direction, and works directly with test pipelines, CI/CD configurations, and coverage metrics. It also establishes requirements-to-test traceability under GxP frameworks and defines how AI features are evaluated at release and monitored in production, including evaluation frameworks with human review checkpoints. The leader will apply AI tools within the testing workflow, establish quality metrics, and partner across engineering, product, quality, and delivery to embed quality earlier and improve release confidence. This is an in-person-oriented role with an expectation to work from the office an average of at least three days per week, while allowing individual flexibility. The annual base pay range is $203,213.60–$304,820.40. The position also offers a short-term incentive bonus opportunity and, for salaried roles, eligibility to participate in an equity-based long-term incentive program. Benefits include a qualified retirement program (401(k)), paid vacation and holidays, paid leaves, and medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage.

  • Own and enforce GA-readiness standards across the product portfolio, aligning with engineering, product, and quality on what is testable and shippable.
  • Lead the shift from manual to automated functional testing, set the automation roadmap, make framework and tooling decisions, and work directly with test pipelines, CI/CD configurations, and coverage metrics.
  • Establish and maintain requirements-to-test traceability infrastructure required under GxP frameworks.
  • Define testing and production-monitoring practices for AI capabilities, including evaluation frameworks, model regression testing, output validation, and documentation standards, with human review checkpoints.
  • Use AI tools to improve testing workflows, including automated test generation, intelligent coverage analysis, and AI-assisted QA workflows.
  • Establish quality metrics, track progress, and use data to guide decisions on automation coverage, defect trends, release quality, and AI evaluation outcomes.
  • Partner across engineering, product, quality, and delivery to embed quality earlier, reduce rework, improve release confidence, and position quality engineering as an accelerant.
  • Manage multiple products with competing priorities and challenge release decisions or address coverage gaps when needed.
