About The Position

The Senior Director of Tax Operations is responsible for leading the organization's global tax operations, compliance, reporting, and process optimization functions. This role provides strategic leadership over direct and indirect tax activities, ensuring compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations while driving operational excellence, automation, and scalability. The Senior Director will lead the Company’s tax function, working closely with the VP, Controller, to manage tax risks, implement tax strategy, and advise on tax issues for proposed or recent acquisitions. The Senior Director partners closely with Accounting, Treasury, Legal, HR, Operations and external advisors to support business objectives, manage tax risk, and optimize tax processes across the enterprise.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Taxation, or related field.
  • CPA, MST, JD, or equivalent professional qualification.
  • 15+ years of progressive tax experience, including significant leadership responsibilities.
  • Deep knowledge of corporate tax compliance, tax accounting, and tax operations.
  • Expert in ASC 740 tax provision processes.
  • Strong understanding of tax technology platforms and ERP systems.
  • Proven experience managing large-scale tax operations and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee all tax operations activities, including direct tax, indirect tax, property tax, and other applicable tax functions.
  • Develop and execute the tax operations strategy aligned with organizational goals.
  • Establish and maintain effective tax governance, controls, and risk management frameworks.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on tax matters.
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation, review, and filing of federal, state, local, and international tax returns.
  • Oversee quarterly and annual tax provision processes in accordance with applicable accounting standards (ASC 740, IFRS, or local GAAP requirements).
  • Manage tax audits, inquiries, and examinations by tax authorities.
  • Oversee execution and compliance with indirect taxes, including Sales & Use tax, VAT, etc.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and assess operational impacts.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of tax processes.
  • Lead tax technology strategy, including implementation and optimization of tax software, ERP integrations, and automation tools.
  • Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) and reporting dashboards for tax operations.
  • Champion digital transformation and data analytics initiatives within the tax function.
  • Ensure compliance with internal control requirements, as well as other regulatory frameworks.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate tax operational risks.
  • Maintain documentation of tax processes, controls, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with Internal Audit and external auditors to support reviews and testing activities.
  • Partner with Accounting, Legal, Treasury, HR, Operations, and business leaders to support transactions and operational initiatives.
  • Provide tax operational guidance on mergers, acquisitions, restructurings, and new business initiatives.
  • Support strategic planning efforts through tax analysis and operational insights.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing tax operations team.
  • Establish clear performance expectations and development plans.
  • Manage staffing, budgeting, and resource allocation for the tax operations function.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

  • Ensures Compliance with applicable governmental laws, rules, and regulations, both in the United States and internationally, by completing introductory and annual training and maintaining knowledge of compliance as it applies to your role
