About The Position

We are looking for a Senior Director, Tax Operations to join our team. This is a Hybrid (3 days a week, Santa Clara, CA) role, reporting to the VP of Tax in the Finance department. This is an opportunity to own and lead the quarterly and annual global income tax provision process (ASC 740), shape corporate tax compliance policies, and manage a high-performing global team of tax professionals. You will drive automation initiatives to scale our tax infrastructure alongside the rapid expansion of Zscaler’s global business operations.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated curiosity and active exploration of AI tools, with a proven history of integrating new technologies to enhance daily workflows and augment problem-solving
  • 15+ years of corporate tax experience with a proven track record combining Big 4 public accounting and large multinational corporate tax department leadership
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license with comprehensive subject matter expertise in US GAAP Tax Accounting (ASC 740)
  • Extensive technical proficiency in U.S. federal, state, local, and international tax laws, with proven experience coordinating tax provision processes across multiple jurisdictions
  • Demonstrated experience leading, inspiring, and mentoring a high-performing global team of tax professionals

  • Proven ability to leverage AI technologies and workflows to drive measurable operational efficiency
  • Master’s Degree in Taxation or LLM
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel tax modeling and hands-on experience with specialized tax provision software (e.g., Corptax, OneSource Tax Provision)
  • Strong working familiarity with large ERP platforms, preferably Net-Suite, and G-Suite collaboration tools
  • A proven track record of championing and implementing process improvement initiatives to scale a global tax function

Responsibilities

  • Lead ASC 740 Global Provision: Direct the end-to-end quarterly and annual global income tax provision processes and related SEC disclosures (10-K/10-Q), ensuring the highest standards of financial accuracy.
  • Manage Compliance & Audits: Oversee the timely filing of U.S. Federal, State, and local tax returns, and act as the primary interface with tax regulatory authorities for audits.
  • Own SOX & Audit Controls: Develop, enhance, and maintain rigorous SOX control processes while managing external financial statement audits of the global income tax provision.
  • Support International Compliance: Coordinate critical international tax reporting requirements, including foreign tax credits, branch operations, CFC reporting, and Country-by-Country Reporting (CbCR).
  • Drive Automation & Scaling: Partner with cross-functional finance teams to implement technology, leverage ERP systems (SAP), and streamline tax reporting workflows.
  • Proven track record of building and leading high-performing teams, with a dedicated focus on mentoring, active coaching, and driving the professional development of global tax professionals
