About The Position

Success Academy is a growing network of public charter schools in New York and Florida, dedicated to providing children with a rigorous, whole-child education. The Strategy & Business Development (BD) department is responsible for authoring and orchestrating the enterprise strategy, providing analytical capabilities, managing market intelligence, leading cross-functional initiatives, and overseeing Business Development and Partnerships. This role will serve as a strategic architect and operator, tackling complex, high-priority challenges and driving the organization's ambition to scale world-class schools. The ideal candidate will possess strong strategic thinking, analytical skills, and communication abilities, with the capacity to navigate ambiguity, solve problems independently, and implement solutions across the organization.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience, ideally including time at a top-tier strategy consulting firm or comparable environment; in-house strategy or business development experience is highly valued.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to break down complex, ambiguous problems, see connections, and bring structure.
  • A track record of driving complex initiatives from definition through implementation with high agency and excellent execution.
  • Executive communication skills, with the ability to distill complex information into clear recommendations and build trust with executive audiences.
  • Partnership development acumen, including the ability to scan the external ecosystem, source, vet, and structure potential partnerships with financial and strategic rigor.
  • Fluency with the modern strategy toolkit, including strong quantitative and data-visualization skills.
  • Genuine enthusiasm for using AI to elevate work.
  • High drive and low ego, with ambition, intensity, humility, and a willingness to pitch in wherever needed.
  • NYC-based or willing to relocate.
  • Ability to work hybrid, 3 days/week in the Manhattan office.

Responsibilities

  • Shape the enterprise agenda by serving as a trusted thought partner to senior leaders, helping to shape, pressure-test, and drive strategic priorities.
  • Build systematic solutions by developing strategic operating cadences and establishing/owning strategic planning processes and structures to enable speed during scaling.
  • Solve the hardest cross-functional problems by leading structured problem-solving on consequential challenges, bringing structure to ambiguity, driving analysis, and ensuring execution and sustainment.
  • Deliver business insights and decision support by proactively surfacing trends and opportunities and providing actionable insights to executive leadership.
  • Operationalize market and competitive intelligence by contextualizing the external landscape and systematically surfacing key insights to drive enterprise strategy and inform decisions.
  • Source partnership opportunities by identifying, vetting, and structuring partnerships that solve internal problems and bring new capabilities to the enterprise.
  • Elevate and enhance work with AI by integrating AI to improve the quality and speed of analysis, communication, and decision support.
