About The Position

PrizePicks is seeking a Sr. Director, State Government Affairs to lead its advocacy efforts across US States. This role involves engaging with legislators and key stakeholders on issues related to daily fantasy sports, predictions markets, and sports and entertainment. The ideal candidate is a thoughtful, driven professional with excellent political instincts and judgment, passionate about consumer products and public policies that support consumer choice. This position reports into the SVP of Public Affairs.

Requirements

8+ years of experience in policy, government, and/or campaign roles.
Strong grasp of politics, media and comms, and the legislative process.
Familiarity with tech, consumer apps, and gaming issues.
Experience leading teams and setting strategy.
Ability to distill complex competitive and policy dynamics into short, high impact, politically attuned messaging for both internal and external audiences.
Exceptional interpersonal skills to quickly forge connections and build relationships.
Aptitude for finding creative ways to secure wins in rapidly changing environments across multiple jurisdictions.
A conviction that there’s always a way through and the persistence to keep adapting until you find the right solution.
Ability to pass key personnel submissions and background checks as part of gaming licenses.
Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.

Responsibilities

Oversee and mentor a team of regional Directors of State Government Affairs, ensuring collective coverage of all 50 US states.
Manage team performance, conduct annual performance reviews, and foster a culture of excellence and accountability.
Develop and manage the annual State Government Affairs budget, including overseeing external firms and lobbyists.
Strategically allocate resources for maximum impact and efficiency across all jurisdictions, and oversee political giving.
Direct the legislative and regulatory strategy development for US State government affairs.
Assign and adjust priority assignments for the regional Directors based on current legislative landscapes and company goals.
Ensure the executive leadership team has clear visibility into the changing political landscape.
Act as a senior representative of PrizePicks to state legislators, regulators, governors, and attorneys general.
Drive high-level engagement with 3rd party stakeholders, peers, and competitors to build strategic relationships.
Draft and distribute weekly team updates on progress towards legislative and regulatory goals.
Provide concise and impactful summaries for internal company stakeholders and executive leadership.
Work closely with comms, legal, product, and marketing teams to tell the PrizePicks story and support the user community.
