About The Position

The Government Affairs Director will support GE Vernova's government engagement initiatives in the U.S., representing the full breadth of GE Vernova's energy technology portfolio to external stakeholders. Working in close partnership with the U.S. Government Affairs team and in collaboration with senior GE Vernova leadership, the position will advocate on a broad range of federal legislative, regulatory, and policy issues with government officials and third parties and monitor and advise GEV's leadership on relevant U.S. policy and regulatory developments. Beyond its U.S. responsibilities, the role will regularly interact and coordinate with GE Vernova's international government affairs team on shared corporate priorities, ensuring a cohesive and globally aligned approach to government engagement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in political science, public policy, law, or economics; advanced degree is strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 8 years of professional experience working on U.S. federal government affairs matters, including significant relevant experience with the U.S. Congress, executive branch agencies, a global corporation, and/or a law or public affairs firm
  • Deep knowledge of U.S. federal government institutions, legislative and regulatory processes, energy policy, funding programs, and priorities
  • Demonstrated experience engaging directly with Members of Congress, Congressional staff, and/or senior executive branch officials on behalf of a corporation or organization
  • Strong understanding of U.S. government decision-making processes and procedures, and strong relationships with government officials and influencers
  • Strong understanding of the U.S. energy sector and the policy landscape governing electricity generation, transmission, and energy technology deployment
  • Demonstrated ability to think and lead on a strategic level within a complex, matrixed organization and to translate policy developments into actionable business intelligence
  • Fluency in English is required

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in transactional support and government funding programs would be a significant advantage
  • Proven track record of successful issue advocacy and influencing on behalf of a corporation, trade association, or government entity
  • Experience crafting or directly contributing to the development of legislation, executive branch regulations, or government programs, and building broad coalition support for policy outcomes among government stakeholders and external partners
  • Ability to build and sustain trusted relationships with government officials, industry stakeholders, and internal business leaders at all levels of seniority, including senior GEV executives
  • Strong strategic instincts with the ability to identify emerging risks and opportunities in the policy environment and develop clear, actionable response plans
  • Ability to effectively prioritize across multiple competing demands and lay out clear, logical, and implementable game plans
  • Proven ability to execute on priority tasks and responsibilities with a high degree of independence, including linking policy details to broad business outcomes
  • Ability to build excellent working relationships within a matrix environment at all levels of the organization
  • Advanced communication skills — both written and verbal — with the ability to distill complex policy issues into compelling, executive-ready materials
  • Ability to deal effectively with people and work in diverse, multinational teams
  • Ability to motivate and inspire others and to operate with a collaborative, team-oriented approach
  • Ability to anticipate trends, manage risk, and exercise sound judgment in politically sensitive environments

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across the U.S. Administration and Congress, representing the full breadth of GE Vernova's energy technology portfolio in all government engagements
  • Develop and execute proactive advocacy strategies and public policy campaigns that advance GE Vernova's priorities
  • Monitor and analyze the U.S. legislative and regulatory landscape and deliver timely, actionable intelligence and policy analysis to GEV corporate and business segment leadership
  • Develop legislative and regulatory policy proposals that advance GE Vernova's interests in the energy sector
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to GE Vernova's business segments, developing depth of knowledge across key GE Vernova business segments to align policy engagement with commercial priorities
  • Partner with GE Vernova's international government affairs team to align U.S. engagement with global corporate priorities and ensure a cohesive multinational approach to government affairs
  • Represent GE Vernova in trade associations, industry coalitions, and external forums to advance the company's policy positions and broaden its advocacy reach
  • Develop high-quality advocacy materials, including policy briefs, testimony, comment letters, and executive-level briefings
