About The Position

The Sr Director, Revenue Performance and Strategy serves as a key leader within Tampa General Hospital’s Revenue Cycle division. Reporting directly to the Chief Revenue Cycle Officer and Senior Vice President of Revenue Cycle, this position drives operational excellence, yield improvement, and long-range strategic planning across all hospital billing (HB) and patient financial service functions. This role functions as both strategist and operator, building the three-year roadmap for revenue cycle success and aligning people, technology, and process improvement efforts with the system’s most significant opportunities. The Director will operate independently, working closely with analytics, Epic, finance, and operational teams to create measurable outcomes in performance, efficiency, and financial results. The ideal candidate combines deep Epic expertise, advanced analytical skills, and process engineering experience. This individual serves as a chief of staff–type leader, capable of managing priorities, orchestrating initiatives, and assuring execution across all workstreams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, or other related field.
  • Epic Resolute or Analytics certification required.
  • Eight (8) years of progressive experience in revenue cycle management, hospital operations, or healthcare process improvement within a complex academic medical center or large health system. This should include leading multi-year strategic roadmaps for revenue cycle operations, aligned with enterprise goals like cash acceleration, denial reduction, and efficiency. Proven success in identifying and prioritizing high-impact opportunities such as clean claim rates, AR curves, payer mix, point-of-service collections, and eligibility capture is essential.
  • Hands-on expertise in designing and implementing end-to-end process improvements, particularly within Epic HB modules (e.g., Patient Financials, Claims, and Billing), will be key. This includes conducting root-cause analysis, developing corrective action plans, and implementing cross-functional standardization to reduce variation. The candidate must have served as a strategic liaison across IT, data/analytics, compliance, clinical, finance, and operations, handling escalations, risk mitigation, and strategy adjustments. Experience in analytic modeling, forecasting, and financial impact estimation along with driving change management through training, communication, and stakeholder alignment, is required.
  • Demonstrated leadership in performance monitoring via dashboards and KPIs, team accountability, and executive reporting (e.g., to CRCO, SVP, CFO) rounds out the profile, including mentoring staff as a force multiplier in ambiguous, multi-workstream environments.

Responsibilities

  • Co-develop with CRCO and implement a 3-year strategic roadmap to advance operational performance, yield, and automation across all revenue cycle domains.
  • Partner with executive leadership to define enterprise goals and translate them into actionable work plans and measurable KPIs.
  • Lead root cause analysis to address underpayments, denials, and missed reimbursement opportunities.
  • Designs analytics that prioritize AR by collectability and dollar value, guiding staff to high-yield accounts first.
  • Serve as the strategic integrator between RCM operations, analytics, IT (Epic), and finance teams.
  • Conduct in-depth financial and operational analysis to identify trends, bottlenecks, and high-impact opportunities.
  • Oversee Epic HB optimization efforts, partnering with technical teams to align system design with operational workflows.
  • Develop standardized dashboards and performance reports, ensuring accuracy, visibility, and accountability at all levels.
  • Lead or facilitate Kaizen events, stakeholder workgroups, and executive updates on revenue cycle strategy.
  • Support automation, machine learning, and data-driven tools that improve staff productivity and decision-making.
  • Guide cross-functional teams in executing key initiatives with discipline and clarity, ensuring sustainability of improvements.
  • Represent Revenue Cycle in enterprise projects impacting financial performance, technology adoption, or patient experience.
  • Leads monthly Yield & Cash Performance Review with CFO and CRCO
