The position manages the execution of Regional Professional Education strategy and HLN plans. The individual is a critical member of the MSA Professional Education organization and collaborates with cross-functional teams including internal/external regional/local business stakeholders within Medical and Clinical Affairs, across GIS and SIS business units, and within the broader Olympus organization as appropriate.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree in life sciences or related field.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years device / pharmaceutical industry experience with preferably 5+ years in Medical Affairs, Field Medical, Medical Science Liaison, Clinical Operations roles within device / pharmaceutical companies (preferably in multiple phases and multiple roles).
  • Previous experience working in a device company along with knowledge in Olympus therapeutic areas of interest.
  • Previous experience developing and implementing global/regional professional education and training plans, developing strategic goals & objectives to drive learning excellence for internal and external stakeholders in the corresponding therapeutic area and products.
  • Previous experience in leading healthcare engagement and society engagement for new product launch readiness (market seeding, healthcare expert, advocacy engagement, speaker opportunities, and key educational initiatives).
  • Displays a good understanding of clinical research, data analysis, clinical landscape, publications, and well-developed commercial acumen for cross functional collaboration.
  • Experience in communicating with external stakeholders including clinicians and allied health professionals.
  • Direct people management experience and managing teams.
  • Budget and forecasting experience.
  • Ability to think strategically, critically analyse and synthesize complicated data, scientific, and business information.
  • Strong consulting, facilitation, and communication skills bridging between scientific and business unit priorities, to manage effective international and cross-divisional collaboration.
  • Impeccable attention to detail and ability to complete writing assignments in a timely manner with minimal oversight.
  • Experience of influencing and negotiating at management level to achieve delivery.
  • Successful track record of managing and balancing multiple projects with overlapping timelines in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment.
  • Track record of successful partnership & collaboration with key stakeholders and business partners.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, outstanding verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Experience working in a global cross-functional team (functional/matrix) environment and experience working with groups with varied cultural backgrounds and learning styles is required.
  • Domestic and international travel 20%, including weekend and evening travel as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible to develop, implement and execute strategically aligned professional education HLN plans to successfully educate Healthcare Professionals (HCP), Healthcare Organization (HCO) on procedure training as well as safe and effective use of Olympus products and services according to divisional strategy and in close cooperation with GIS/SIS business units, Marketing, regional PA, Medical Affairs, and external Stakeholder.
  • Responsible for leading the regional alignment and implementation of a globally directed professional education mid-term strategy to drive learning experiences for Medical and Clinical Experts following Olympus Medical Strategy.
  • Responsible for progressive leadership of the Americas Professional Education.
  • Responsible for leading the assessment/benchmark to fully understand the current and future competitive landscape to identify key areas for procedure training and on safe and effective use of Olympus products.
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with healthcare experts, thought leaders, patient advocacy and support groups, and other healthcare organizations and associations to better understand customer education needs.
  • Initiate, foster and develop relationships with multiple professional and medical societies to elucidate and refine professional education needs.
  • Responsible for evaluating the educational impact of training as well as the quality of training events.
  • Identifies key performance and quality metrics to measure the professional education function and use data derived from evaluation of performance and HCP/O feedback to establish a culture of continuous process improvement as well as continuous improvement in content and quality of educational offerings.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable laws regulations policies procedures.
  • Responsible for establishing standards/innovation in learning and training that is current and progressive with industry standards.
  • Identifies and implements the most effective professional education practices by maintaining awareness of industry trends in instructional training practices including changes in training delivery models and use of novel technology, as well as the associated risks and issues associated with change management.
  • Responsible for developing and overseeing overall planning and budget for Professional Education activities as well as ensuring activity alignment with annual plans in OCA.
  • Responsible for approving HCP/O selection and fair market value (FMV) rates for Professional Education activities in line with HCP/O utilization.
  • Maintains a firm knowledge and understanding of the healthcare compliance guidelines and all associated standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Member of the Global extended MSA leadership team.
