About The Position

This role is accountable for defining customer-centric portfolio direction, establishing data-driven prioritization and investment recommendations, monitoring product performance, developing and coaching product management talent, and driving alignment with cross-functional stakeholders including Sales, Business Development, Market Access, R&D, Operations, Technology, Medical Affairs, Finance, Legal, and Executive Leadership. This role will need to ensure effective communication of product strategy, roadmap priorities, business cases, and performance updates through executive presentations and stakeholder communications. This role will ensure the portfolio is strategically differentiated, financially sustainable, operationally feasible, easy to sell internally, and easy for customers to understand externally. Additionally, the Director, Product Management will lead and develop a high-performing team, foster accountability and support professional growth.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in product management, including 5 years in a leadership role within molecular diagnostics, genomics, or related healthcare industry
  • Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional product teams from concept to commercialization
  • Strong background in clinical diagnostics, precision medicine, or laboratory-developed tests (LDTs)
  • Proven ability to define product vision and drive innovation
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

  • Advanced degree such as MS, PhD, MBA, or genetic counseling degree.
  • Experience with the prenatal/reproductive health market or oncology market

Responsibilities

  • Set and govern the product portfolio strategy and roadmap for the assigned segment, ensuring priorities are aligned to enterprise goals, market opportunity, customer needs, financial objectives, operational feasibility, and long-term portfolio differentiation. Drive timely decisions on roadmap tradeoffs, investment priorities, sequencing, and resource allocation.
  • Prepare and deliver clear executive-level recommendations, business cases, roadmap updates, performance reviews, and decision materials for senior leadership. Translate complex market, clinical, technical, financial, and operational information into concise narratives that support executive decision-making and organizational alignment.
  • Lead cross-functional alignment across Sales, Business Development, Market Access, R&D, Operations, Technology, Medical Affairs, Finance, Legal, Quality, Client Services, and Executive Leadership to clarify priorities, resolve dependencies, remove barriers, and ensure teams are accountable for execution against agreed objectives.
  • Establish a structured approach for gathering and synthesizing customer, provider, commercial, competitor, reimbursement, clinical, technology, and regulatory insights. Use these inputs to identify portfolio opportunities, unmet needs, risk areas, and strategic gaps that inform product direction and investment decisions.
  • Oversee development of data-supported business cases and ROI analyses, including strategic fit, revenue potential, profitability, market share impact, competitive advantage, technical complexity, operational readiness, regulatory considerations, and resource needs. Recommend prioritization decisions and communicate rationale to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Ensure product requirements, value propositions, target segments, use cases, workflows, pricing inputs, launch criteria, success metrics, and lifecycle plans are clearly defined and consistent with portfolio strategy. Provide direction and oversight to product managers developing detailed product documentation and execution plans.
  • Establish performance management routines for on-market products, including review of volume, revenue, ASP, profitability, adoption, operational performance, quality indicators, customer feedback, and sustainability. Identify risks and underperformance, escalate key issues, and drive corrective action plans with clear owners, timelines, metrics, and leadership visibility.
  • Oversee product enhancements, releases, lifecycle improvements, and commercialization readiness for new and existing products. Partner with functional leaders to ensure launch planning, training, messaging, workflows, sales enablement, operational readiness, and post-launch optimization are coordinated and effective.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing product management team. Set clear goals and expectations, provide regular feedback, support professional development, build bench strength, foster accountability, and establish consistent product management practices, tools, and decision frameworks appropriate for a growing portfolio.
