About The Position

At Commerce, our mission is to empower businesses to innovate, grow, and thrive with our open, AI-driven commerce ecosystem. As the parent company of BigCommerce, Feedonomics, and Makeswift, we connect the tools and systems that power growth, enabling businesses to unlock the full potential of their data, deliver seamless and personalized experiences across every channel, and adapt swiftly to an ever-changing market. We believe in harnessing AI responsibly to unlock new possibilities, and we’re looking for individuals who use it intentionally to solve problems, accelerate outcomes, and expand what’s possible in their role. Our purpose is to help businesses confidently solve complex commerce challenges so they can build smarter, adapt faster, and grow on their own terms. If you want to be part of a team of bold builders, sharp thinkers, and technical trailblazers who shape the future of commerce, this is the place for you. The Senior Director, Product Management is a highly senior hybrid people manager role and individual contributor and a member of the Product Leadership team, responsible for setting strategy, driving execution, and delivering measurable business outcomes across a portfolio of interdependent, foundational platform product domains at Commerce. Reporting to the SVP of Product, AI & Feedonomics, this role owns the full lifecycle — P&L, product strategy, development, alpha, beta, GA, and successful ongoing adoption — of the products in their portfolio, working cross-functionally to ensure these foundational services are leveraged effectively by internal teams to take key products to market. This role operates at the intersection of product strategy, cross-platform alignment, and organizational leadership — owning end-to-end decision rights across multiple domains, establishing governance and planning models for complex multi-team initiatives, and serving as a key voice of Product in executive and cross-functional forums. This role operates as a peer-level collaborator to senior product and engineering leaders across the Commerce portfolio.

Requirements

  • Proven ability to set and execute multi-domain product strategy, operating with autonomy across a portfolio of technically complex and commercially significant product areas
  • Demonstrated experience owning a product P&L and managing the full product lifecycle from strategy and development through Alpha, beta, GA, and sustained adoption
  • Strong technical fluency across platform architecture, APIs, data pipelines, search/semantic systems, and auth/entitlement/billing systems; able to engage credibly with engineering leadership on architectural decisions and tradeoffs
  • Demonstrated ability to build quantified business cases and influence investment decisions at the senior and executive leadership level
  • Strong cross-functional leadership skills; able to align global Product, Engineering, Design, and Go-to-Market (GTM) stakeholders across time zones and organizational boundaries
  • Exceptional executive communication skills — written and verbal — with the ability to translate complex technical and strategic concepts for senior audiences with precision and clarity
  • Deep analytical capability; comfortable owning KPI frameworks and using performance data to drive portfolio-level prioritization and tradeoff decisions.
  • Experience establishing governance structures, operating models, and planning cadences for large, multi-team product programs
  • Experience building or owning foundational/platform products (APIs, infrastructure, developer tooling) consumed by both internal teams and external customers and partners
  • Demonstrated ability to develop product management talent through mentoring, coaching, and knowledge sharing across teams
  • Experience driving AI-native workflows and modern product operating practices at a team or organizational level
  • Proficiency with AI tools in a professional context, including Claude and ChatGPT
  • Ability to operate effectively across global teams and time zones, including engagement with regional commercial and product stakeholder
  • 12+ years of product management experience, including at least 5 years operating at a senior individual contributor or people management level across complex, multi-domain product portfolios
  • Demonstrated track record of delivering platform-level or enterprise product strategies that drive significant, quantified business outcomes including revenue growth, retention, and platform adoption
  • Experience owning end-to-end portfolio accountability including P&L, strategy, full-lifecycle execution, cross-team governance, and executive stakeholder management

  • Experience working within a multi-brand or multi-product company structure is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Own portfolio-level strategy, roadmap, and delivery accountability, working cross-functionally to ensure foundational platform services are successfully adopted and leveraged by internal teams to take key products to market

  • Establish and operate cross-team governance models, planning cadences, and dependency management frameworks for portfolio-wide initiatives
  • Translate business priorities into sequenced, multi-phase product strategies with clear investment rationale, tradeoffs, and success criteria
  • Establish and champion portfolio-wide Definition of Ready and Definition of Done standards, ensuring consistent requirements quality and delivery predictability across all product teams.
