About The Position

Another Source is partnering with Cal Poly Pomona Enterprises to find a Senior Director of TRIO Pre-College Programs. This role involves leading seven federally funded Upward Bound and Upward Bound Math Science programs aimed at helping first-generation, low-income, and underserved students prepare for college. The position offers the opportunity to lead a mission-driven team, shape TRIO programming through strategic leadership and grant stewardship, build partnerships with K-12 schools and community organizations, and advocate for programs that impact students, families, and communities in Southern California. The role requires significant administrative experience in TRIO or similar programs, with a focus on strategic leadership, grant management, and program development.

Requirements

  • MA or MS in an appropriate field of study (including Public Administration, Education Leadership, Social Science or Humanities, or another relevant field of study).
  • 10 years of successful administrative experience in TRIO or similar programs.
  • Minimum five years of significant administrative experience, preferably in TRIO or a similar youth-serving program.
  • Successful proposal writing experience.

Nice To Haves

  • A doctorate in a relevant field of study may replace up to three years of experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead seven federally funded Upward Bound and Upward Bound Math Science programs.

  • Collaborate with K-12 schools, community organizations, and university leaders to expand educational access and student success.
  • Advocate for programs that have a lasting impact on students, families, and communities.
  • Plan, organize, and oversee the activities and operations of TRIO pre-college programs.
  • Author grant proposals and ensure funding for programs.
  • Ensure programmatic, budget regulation, and expenditure compliance.
  • Write program curriculum.
  • Submit program reports to funding agencies.
  • Supervise and evaluate the performance of program classified staff, instructors, and students.
  • Maintain current knowledge of U.S. Department of Education regulations and develop/modify procedures accordingly.
  • Analyze and forecast expenditures for federal student services programs.
  • Oversee group counseling and individual counseling activities.
  • Supervise the academic year and residential component of the summer program.
  • Coordinate and supervise the academic year counseling component, including college admissions, financial aid, career exploration, academic and personal counseling, and home visits.
  • Facilitate interviewing, training, supervising, and evaluating residential counselors.
  • Facilitate the identification, interviewing, and recommendation of eligible participants.
  • Compile and submit reports and documentation on demographics, enrollment, and student contacts.
  • Participate in college matriculation and project activities, and oversee field services at target schools.
  • Facilitate scheduling and coordination of academic achievement instruments, data analysis, studies, and research reports.
  • Conduct regularly scheduled meetings, training sessions, and student/parent meetings.
  • Plan and manage the dissemination of information about TRIO Pre-College Programs, Cal Poly Pomona, financial aid, and higher education opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Cal Poly Pomona divisions, college staff, and area high schools regarding opportunities for high school students.
  • Serve as project representative and liaison with school district officials and various education and community agencies.
  • Write reports for funding and oversee the development of brochures, application materials, and other project publications.
  • Participate in project activities and field trips throughout the state, including weekends and school holidays.
  • Address student discipline and conduct issues, meet with parents, principals, and counselors, and follow policies regarding suspension and/or removal of students.
