About The Position

Elizabethtown College is currently seeking a Senior Director for the Institute for Engagement, Mission and Impact (EMI). The Senior Director of the Institute for Engagement, Mission, and Impact (EMI) serves as the College's primary steward of mission integration, providing leadership, consultation, and strategic direction to ensure Elizabethtown College’s mission and values are embedded throughout campus life, student development initiatives, co-curricular programs, and community engagement efforts. They provide strategic leadership and administrative oversight for the entities, programs, and initiatives that comprise the Institute. These areas include the Center for Community and Civic Engagement (CCCE), the Office of Student Opportunity, Access and Engagement, the Office of Global Engagement, and the Center for Global Understanding and Peacebuilding. The Senior Director ensures that these areas work collaboratively and cohesively to deliver programs, student support, and community partnerships that develop culturally empathetic students who are informed about complex world issues and committed to peace, non-violence, human dignity, and social justice. The Senior Director reports to the Vice President for Student Life, with expectations of regular collaboration with Academic Affairs and other areas on campus to successfully deliver Signature Learning Experiences and other programs.

Requirements

Master’s Degree is required
5-10 years of relevant experience
A valid driver’s license for business travel purposes (individual must have a US driver’s license for at least three years)
Ability to work extended hours as needed

Responsibilities

Provide strategic leadership, administrative oversight, and support for the staff, programs, centers, and offices that comprise the Institute for Engagement, Mission, and Impact, ensuring programs align with Institute goals, College mission, values and strategic plan.
Serve as the College's primary steward of mission integration, providing leadership, consultation, and strategic direction to ensure the institution's mission and values are embedded throughout campus life, student development initiatives, co-curricular programs, and community engagement efforts.
Ensure that Institute programs and units work collaboratively and cohesively in advancement of the College’s mission, values, motto, strategic plan, and commitment to educating students for lives of purpose, service, civic responsibility, and global citizenship.
Serve in a leadership capacity on the Campus Inclusion Council, including partnering with campus community members in the ongoing revision and execution of the CIC Operational Plan.
Identify, foster, and create opportunities that integrate the Institute’s areas of emphasis, including experiences that combine global learning, civic and community engagement, service learning, dialogue, and peacebuilding.
Partner with Institutional Advancement, Enrollment Management and Financial Aid to oversee execution of scholarship agreements that fall within the purview of the Institute and explore new scholarship opportunities that include applicable Signature Learning Experiences rewarding student leadership, service and College values.
Partner with Enrollment Management and Financial Aid to set and maintain annual Bonner Leaders Program recruitment goals, including securing appropriate placements for federal work-study students.
Engage in ongoing assessment of the effectiveness of the Institute and the impact of Institute’s programs on students, the campus community, and external partners, to include quarterly progress reports and an annual report on outcomes, trends, participation, student learning, community impact, and opportunities for program improvement distributed to Senior Leadership and campus partners.
Advance the long-term goal that each student has a meaningful encounter with Institute programs during their college career.
Collaborate with faculty, academic schools, and relevant campus offices to promote curricular, cocurricular and extracurricular service-learning, global citizenship, dialogue, and peacebuilding programs.
Support programs initiated by academic departments, faculty, academic schools and relevant campus offices that are consistent with the College’s mission and the Institute’s goals.
Lead relationship-building efforts with local nonprofit agencies, community partners, and other external organizations to identify, expand, and assess service, civic engagement, and community-based learning opportunities.
Provide strategic oversight to the Bonner Leaders Program from recruitment through graduation, developing metrics to track participation, outcomes, student development, and program value.
Oversee the development and implementation of a scaffolded program model building student dialogue skills prioritizing human dignity and respectful engagement and teaching effective conflict resolution and restorative practices. This includes but is not limited to the Truth, Community Healing and Transformation program and other programs that promote restorative practices.
Work with the Director of Student Opportunity, Access, and Engagement and other campus partners to offer regular opportunities for students to observe, practice, and participate in dialogue and have courageous conversations.
Ensure the Office of Student Opportunity, Access and Engagement provides programming that educates the community about and celebrates cultural and social identities.
Assess the impact of Institute and Center programming and make recommendations to increase student engagement, strengthen learning outcomes, and improve program effectiveness.
Develop and maintain functional knowledge and understanding of issues directly impacting international students and students studying abroad, supporting the Director of Global Engagement in communicating issues with Senior Leadership, faculty, and staff.
Ensure Director for Global Engagement maintains strict compliance standards and remains current as a PDSO.
Ensure international students and students studying abroad have structured opportunities to reflect upon and make meaning from their global educational experience.
Provide direct leadership for the Center for Global Understanding and Peacebuilding, developing programming and activities that advance international and peacebuilding initiatives through global education, international engagement, and non-violent conflict transformation, including but not limited to the Ware Lecture and the Peace and Global Scholars Program.
Build collaborative relationships with faculty, staff, students, community organizations, and external agencies to develop culturally empathetic students who are informed about complex world issues and committed to peace, non-violence, human dignity, and social justice.
Expand and strengthen opportunities for students and faculty to engage on issues of peace and social justice and providing oversight of the Peace and Global Scholars program.
Communicate the values of peacebuilding, conflict transformation, and global understanding through enhanced marketing efforts, outreach to campus constituencies, and cross-unit collaborations.
In consultation with Institutional Advancement, identify and seek to secure potential new sources of external funds (e.g., grants) for CGUP programming.
Conduct all responsibilities in a safe manner according to regulations (OSHA, EPA, etc.)
