About The Position

Community Servings' mission is to actively engage the community to provide medically tailored, nutritious, scratch-made meals and medically tailored groceries to chronically and critically ill individuals and their families. In addition, we are committed to prioritizing racial and economic justice and health equity in all our programs and business practices. In the spring of 2025, we launched the AMPL Institute. AMPL, which stands for Access to Medically Tailored Nutrition through Policy and Leadership, is where excellence in providing medically tailored nutrition meets pioneering research, policy work, and provider education. Our mission is to transform the healthcare system so that medically tailored nutrition becomes a universally accessible standard of comprehensive, person-centered care. The work of the AMPL Institute falls into three pillars: Research, Policy, and Education. We are a dynamic and fast-growing agency at the forefront of the "Food is Medicine" field, providing over 1M medically tailored meals annually to clients and their families experiencing illness and food insecurity in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. In addition, our work strongly focuses on supporting the regional local food system, delivering high-quality nutrition education to the community, and hosting an on-site food-service workforce development program. Over the past 36 years, the agency has provided 15M+ free, scratch-made meals.

Requirements

Registered Dietitian and Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
Professional Chefs’ degree, or at least three years’ experience as a chef or culinary professional
Familiarity with the latest nutritional standards, practices, and procedures of the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics, including Medical Nutrition Therapy
Experience in developing and teaching educational programs related to food and nutrition
Demonstrated skill in interpersonal relations to effectively communicate with multi-cultural populations
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and managing meetings in Zoom
A valid Massachusetts Driver’s License and a clean driving history with access to a reliable vehicle
The ability to successfully pass a Criminal Offender Records Inquiry (CORI) background check
Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition or related field
Master of Science degree in Nutrition or related field
Professional Chef’s Degree or certificate.

Responsibilities

Actively works with relevant internal team members to develop, refine, implement, and scale educational curricula that meet the organization’s mission and goals.
Teaches the curricula or collaborates with external partners who are teaching the curricula. For example, in partnership with Tufts Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy, the Manager of Education teaches a graduate-level, 8-week Culinary Medicine course composed of virtual lectures and in-person cooking labs at Community Servings campus to Tufts University nutrition, medical, and dental students. The Manager of Education will work to grow our culinary medicine and other education offerings beyond this course.
Develops and implements outreach strategies to recruit program participants and audiences for our educational content.
Acts as a liaison to external project partners.
Prepares and leads presentations related to Community Servings’ Education Program, including coordinating group visits to teach about the mission and work of Community Servings and AMPL.
Collaborates with the Senior Research Project Manager to develop outcomes measurement tools that meet funder and organizational objectives.
Oversees the Community Servings Internship Program, coordinating onboarding and aligning intern interest with organization opportunity/capacity.
Supervises interns and staff as required.
Assists the grants team in the development of grant applications, when relevant opportunities arise.
